Expert Reviews For AMD RX 580:

By LiveAtPC
A gaming card that looks cool while keeping cool and pumping out polygons like no tomorrow.

By IGN
The RX 580 from Gigabyte is a fantastic bang-for-your-buck GPU. The high-end cards from the top manufacturers usually perform similarly, so buying designs usually come down to aesthetics, software, warranty, etc. Given this situation the Aorus is certainly a great GPU that is well-built, has aggressive looks with great lighting, and performs well while being whisper-quiet at all times, even under full load. Good luck finding one for MSRP though.

By TechAdvisor
The Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX 580 TOP Edition 8GB is one of the most expensive Radeon RX 580 cards available, but offers excellent performance delivering similar overall frame rates to an overclocked Nvidia GTX 1060, although this will of course depend on which games you play. The board offers superb build quality and a great selection of features including programmable lighting effects and bundled overclocking software. It’s sheer size may be a problem for some smaller cases, however, and audible coil whine can occasionally spoil the experience.

By TechRadar
Undoubtedly this isn’t the card we expected AMD to launch right now. The RX 580, is no Titan killer, nor does it change the GPU ecosphere in any meaningful way, however it just slips in, taking back that value crown, away from Nvidia’s GTX 1060.

By Notebookcheck
Those who do not want an Nvidia GPU and are on the lookout for a good graphics card that costs no more than 300 Euros (~$344) will not be disappointed with the Asus ROG Strix Radeon RX 580. Besides the good cooling solution, the GPU also features eye-catching RGB effects.

Expert Reviews For Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti

By PCGamesN
The Asus Phoenix GTX 1660 Ti shows the strength of Nvidia’s GTX 1660 Ti, beating the RX 590 for only slightly more cash. But, while the diminutive cooler makes it great for a mini-ITX build, it does still hold that new Turing GPU back a little.

By TomsHardware
Although GeForce GTX 1660 Ti costs more than the 1060 6GB it replaces, Nvidia’s newest Turing-based board delivers performance similar to GeForce GTX 1070. High performance, a reasonable price tag, and modest power consumption come together in a solid upper-mainstream graphics card.

By PCGamer
The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti balances price, performance, and features to create a compelling mainstream offering with improved performance for the midrange market.

By eTeknix
Do you have around £270 and want to play the latest games at high frame rates at 1080p, or even 1440p? Then it’s a no brainer right now. The GTX 1070 is around the same price, which is a much bigger GPU, higher power usage, and lower performance. The RX590 is £250, cheaper, but again higher power consumption, heat, and slightly lower performance. For affordable gaming, this plucky little card blows my mind. It’s much more powerful than it looks and a solid replacement for the older cards. Obviously, I wouldn’t replace an existing 10-series card with this in my PC. However, if you’re still on old cards like the 660 Ti, or RX 460, it’s a great upgrade.

By Bit-Tech
Palit’s card is basic but gets the job done and is acceptable given the MSRP. We wouldn’t advise paying much over MSRP either, as then RTX 2060 becomes all the more appealing. But nevertheless, this card slots into the market neatly, and if you really can’t stretch much beyond £250 it’s probably the card we’d choose if looking for an upgrade over something older than previous-gen silicon.

Detailed Review:

Above we have shown the overview and depth specifications of both the graphics card. Now, we are sharing the full review of both graphics cards.

NOTE -
Things like Cuda cores, stream processors, and clock speeds are not directly comparable because both are based on different architectures.

The RX 580 is based on the 14nm GCN 4th gen architecture and was released in April 2017.

Something to take note of though is that the GTX 1660 Ti has 6GB of GDDR6 memory, while the RX 580 has 8GB, so we may see that additional memory comes in use at higher resolutions with higher settings in some titles

The GTX 1660 Ti was released in February of 2019 at a launch price of $219. It runs a core clock of 1500 MHz, has 6GB of GDDR6 memory, and a TDP of 120W.

PERFORMANCE: RX 580 vs GTX 1660 Ti

For the testing, I’m using the MSI GTX 1660 Ti and Sapphire RX 580. Expect slightly different results with different models.

The system that I’m testing with has an i7-8700K CPU on Z370 Motherboard, along with 16GB RAM DDR4-2800MHz.

The same drivers and Windows updates were used for all testing, so let’s get into the games.

NOTE -
The Following games are tested at 1080p and 1440p. The FPS are shown are average.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Shadow of the Tomb Raider was tested running through the start of the game, with the same test pass completed each time. With the Ultra preset, at 1080p the 1660 TI was just 26FPS faster than the RX 580, and 16FPS ahead at 1440p.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex Mankind Divided

Deus Ex was tested with the game’s built in benchmark. At 1080p the Ti was 11FPS ahead of the RX 580, increasing to a 8FPS lead at 1440p.

F1 2018

F1 2018

F1 2018 was tested with all graphical settings at maximum, and at 1080p and 1440p there was huge difference between the two.

Far Cry 5

Far Cry 5 was tested with the game’s benchmark tool, and this title was seeing an above-average increase to performance with the Ti, granted it’s still a somewhat small difference, with the 1660 Ti was about 20FPS ahead at both resolutions.

Ghost Recon Wildlands

Ghost Recon Wildlands was tested in campaign mode with the highest ultra preset. There was a big difference between the two with this game, just a 15FPS boost at 1080p with the Ti and 12FPS at 1440p.

GTA 5

GTA 5 was tested using the built-in benchmark at very high settings and was another with big differences between the two. The Ti was just 39FPS faster at 1080p, and 28FPS at 1440p.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice

Hellblade was tested using the replay feature, with the exact same replay file used for each test. Big noticeable differences here, at 1080p and 1440p.

Monster Hunter World

Monster Hunter World was tested with the built-in benchmark. Just looking at the results I want to say there’s a major difference. The Ti coming out 21FPS ahead at 1080p and 13FPS ahead at 1440p.

Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege was tested as a Vulkan title using the built-in benchmark. This game was giving good playable frame rates on both graphics cards. Anyways the GTX 1660 ti was a clear winner in this tittle.

Witcher 3

The Witcher 3 was tested with ultra settings. At 1080p the Ti was 30FPS ahead of the RX 580, lowering ever so slightly to 18FPS higher at 1440p.

WHICH TO BUY: RX 580 or GTX 1660 Ti

The results are in favor of GTX 1660 Ti. The MSRP is meant to be $200 USD for the RX 580 and $280 for the GTX 1660 Ti. Paying %80 more will give you better power and performance. Yes, there is a good advantage to RX 580 is that 8GB of VRAM. The 1660 Ti it would be my pick between the two if I was buying today.

In my opinion the GTX 1660 Ti is better value as this was performing 28% better in performance.
