DETAILED REVIEW:

DESIGN

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

The 830 G6 has the same design like other Elitebooks. HP has integrated aluminum on the lid and palm rest and magnesium on the bottom cover. The work done on the laptop is really nice and the stability of the laptop is very high. The elitebook have a sleek and strong industrial design. The maintainance cover at the bottom of the laptop is also the same like the other Elitebooks. As the name x360 suggests that the lid of the laptop can rotate all the way up to 360-degree. The hinge of the laptop is nice and sturdy as well. Overall, the design of the laptop is almost to similar to the other Elitebooks.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

The 1030 G4 is a 2-in-1 convertible laptop and the design of this laptops feels extremely well build, sturdy and feels like that this laptop would last a long time. This 1030 G4 is a laptop and it can also convert into a tablet because of the hinges and form factor of the laptop. The 1030 G4 is a 2-in-1 but it can also be used in some other modes like the tablet mode, the PC mode, and the tent mode as well which can be used for entertainment purposes, and you can also use the laptop in an invert PC mode to watch movies or videos on youtube.

KEYBOARD & TOUCHPAD

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

Here, the keyboard hasn’t changed much than on the other Elitebook laptop. The keyboard here is spill resistant and the typing experience is also really nice as well. This keyboard is really nice and comfortable for working long hours and the travel distance also is a bit long. The solid frame of the laptop keeps the backlit keyboard absolutely stable, hence, avoiding keyboard flex and thus we get a very comfortable typing experience.

On this laptop we have got a outstanding smooth glass clickpad with multi-touch gesture support. The buttons here are combined with the touchpad which gives us a sizable area to work with. With this touchpad we have also got a rubber point stick pointing device with two dedicated buttons which are sitting on the top of the touchpad.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

The 1030 G4’s keyboard has a regular style layout. This keyboard has a very premium feel and the travel space of the key is decent as well. The keys also has a tactile feel and backlit as well which is extremely helpful when working in low lighting conditions and we also have the buttons to turn on and off this backlits which also helps in saving batterylife.

DISPLAY

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

Here, the 13.3-inch 1080p matte SureView gen 3 panel and the company claims that it has 1000 nits of brightness but according to my testing the brightness level maxes out at 690 nits which is also alot in compare to their competition. On this screen we also get see the SureView Gen 3 panel which helps you to get your privacy in public by restricting the viewing angles. The way it works is by making the screen the darker and this is very useful if you are working on some sensitive things in public places like cafes, restaurant, trains, airport, etc. It produces 93.6% sRGB is not bad at all. However, depending on the viewing angel the variation of the brightness level changes as well.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

The 1030 G4 has a smooth and glossy Ultra-HD display panel and this is a 4K display with a resolution of 3840 X 2160p. If you are someone who wants laptop which can be used in the outdoor conditions than there is also an option here for a Full-HD display panel and the resolution of this screen is 1920 X 1080p which is a Full HD screen and it comes with 1000 nits of brightness. However, if you take the display with 1000 nits of brightness than you will not get a long battery life because a display is something which consumes most of the batterylife of any device. With either of the display you choose, you get a feature called SureView which helps you to protect your privacy and also protects your work if you are working on something sensitive in publice places bistros, cafés, trains and so forth. In general this is incredible screen and I love watching content on this 2-in-1 laptop.

SPEAKERS

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

Here, the 830 G6 speakers features Bang & Olufsen dual stereo speakers with 3 multi-array microphone. The speakers are loud and the sound quality is above average just because of the positioning of the speakers which is just above the keyboard.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

This laptop has got the quad speakers. From this quad speakers, two speakers are located on the sides of the keyboard and the other two speakers are located on the bottom of the speakers. The audio quality of these speakers is extremely good and I would like to thank HP as they have done such an excellent work in the audio section. However, the bass on this laptop is very poor and if there was a little more bass on this speakers than these could produce extremely nice audio.

PERFORMANCE

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

Our review unit is consist of Intel Whiskey lake U with four cores i7-8565U with Intel UHD graphics 620. Here, we have got a 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and 512 GB PCIe NVMe SSD for storage. This processor has the average power consumption of 15-watts with a few second bursts to 4.6 GHz which consumes 45-watts in the process. To make use of the turbo boost, the 830 must be connected to the mains. The performance of the processor is limited when it’s on battery mode only. The fan noise is kept at minimum even at load hitting the maximum of 34.4 decibles. Because of the cooling fan the 830 G6 is no more than warm and at the best touching 45-degree celsius at the best. If you want to play high graphics than I would recommend you to buy a laptop with discrete graphics card.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

The 1030 G4 has got the Intel’s eight generation i5 processor also known as Whiskey Lake with 4 cores and the clockspeed here is higher than Intel’s Kaby Lake CPU. This processor is integrated with 16 GB of LPDDR3 ROM and it can be expanded upto 2 TB. According to me, the 1040 G6 processor is far better than 1030 G4. The 1040 G6 processor is also a bit powerful than 1030 G4.

BATTERY

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

The 830 G6 provides 51 Wh lithum battery which is really nice when it comes to general use. Here we can get somewhere around 10-hours of battery life with just a single charge. The power charger is a 65-watt USB type-C adaptor and it’s fairly portable and it can easily fits into any bag without any trouble.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

Here, we get to 56-Wh battery and according to my testing it can lasts from 7 to 8 hours which is a decent amount of battery life in a single charge.

PORT SELECTION

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

On the right side of the laptop we have a sim slot, a headphone/microphone jack, a USB Type-A port, HDMI 1.4 port, RJ45 Ethernet port, and a docking connector as well.

On the left side of the laptop we got a Kensington lock, a USB 3.1 Gen 1 with charging and a smart card slot as well.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

Here, we have a power point, two USB Type-A ports, SD card slot, a headphone jack, a USB Type-C port and an HDMI port.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

HP EliteBook x360 830 G6:

The weight of the laptop is 1.33 Kg and the dimensions are 20 x 13 x 2.5 inches.

HP EliteBook x360 1030 G4:

The weight of 1030 G4 is 4.56 pounds/ 2.06 kgs. The dimensions of this laptop are 19-inches X 12.1-inches X 2.7-inches.

WHICH ONE YOU SHOULD BUY?

Well, both the laptops are really nice and both of them have thier own pros and cons. Like the 1030 G4 has got great speakers but 830 G6 doesn’t. The battery life is great on 830 G6 but not on 1030 G4. The 830 G6 has got great performance because of the higher processor power. The display is better on 1030 G4 as it has got the 4K display. So it just depends on your priority and your budget a well. For me, the HP Elitebook x360 830 G6 is what I would prefer to buy as it has got the better, nice battery life, good amounts of port, and nice keyboard as well.
