DETAILED REVIEW:

DESIGN

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

The HP Elitebook 840 G6 has got the aluminum unibody and the laptop looks very nice and it feels very premium when you take the laptop in hand. This device has a strong and durable body and it doesn’t flex a lot. On the top of the laptop we have got the HP logo with a metallic finish. On both the side of the laptops we have got good amount of ports. On opening the lid we get a well sized keyboard and touchpad as well. With the keyboard we have got a pointing device which is a little convenient to use. We have also got a finger print scanner on the right side below the keyboard which helps us to secure our privacy. Overall the design of this laptop is quite nice and feels very strong and premium as well.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

This laptop has also been designed with the aluminum body. This laptop is light and compact which is designed for professionals. This laptop feels sleek and premium. This laptop is very solid and stable. On the top of the laptop we got HP branding with a metallic finish. On both the side of the laptop we have got lot of option for ports. The keyboard has got the regular layout and the size of the touchpad is quite large. And just above the keyboard we have got dual stereo speakers.

KEYBOARD & TOUCHPAD

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

On this laptop the layout of this keyboard is rectangular and the size is pretty good as well. The keys are well spaced and the key travel is decent as well. Because of the firm unibody of the laptop we have got a very minimal flex on the keyboard which makes the typing work a pleasure. The size of the keys is decent except the up-down arrow keys. Other than that all the keys are decent in size. While typing, the keys feel very solid and also I don’t need to apply a lot of force to hit the keys.

The touchpad on this device is huge and feels very smooth and clicking on these touchpad gives a feeling of satisfaction. With this touchpad we also have got the two buttons integrated, which gives a decent amount of space on the touchpad to use. The touchpad also supports the multi-touch gestures which is really nice. Here, we also have a pointing device on the center of the keyboard which is really nice and convenient to use.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

Here, we have regular style layout of the keyboard. The space between the keys and also the key travel is pretty decent. This is very solid keyboard and the keys also gives a tactile feedback as well. There is almost no flex on the keyboard you might experience some flex if you press really hard on the center of the keyboard. There are also some extra features with this laptop includes are spill resistance and drainage. This laptop also has the feature for backlit which is very useful and convenient for those works in low lighting conditions.

This touchpad has a glass surface which improve the gliding experience. However, it just not improve the gliding experience but also its accurate and fast. We also get a finger print sensor on the bottom right of the keyboard which is very necessary for someone who is concern about there privacy.

DISPLAY

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

On this device we get a Full HD IPS display with a 14-inch screen. This screen has got an anti-glare technology and this screen has the pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. This screen is quite good when it comes to display quality.

The side bezels on this display are very thin but the top and the bottom bezels are not as thin as the side bezels. On the bottom bezel we have got the “HP” branding in the centre. On the top bezel we have got the 720p HD camera with a physical shutter which blocks the camera completely which is really necessary to protect your privacy.

This is a really nice screen to watch movies or videos. You will not face any issue while watching videos even if the screen is at a very obsolete angle. The aspect ratio of this screen is 16:9 and it has the pixel density of 157 PPI. This screen maxes out at a brightness level of 444 nits and this display produces 94% of sRGB which quite good. Overall the screen is quite nice to watch movies or videos but the screen colors are not totally accurate but its not that big of a deal and other than that this is a really nice screen.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

Here, we have a big display of 15.6-inches with a Full HD IPS screen. This screen has the aspect ratio of 16:9 with the pixel density of 142 PPI. The viewing angles of this display are really nice. The screen maxes out at 261 nits which is not that great.

Just like the 840 G6 the side bezel are very thin and the top and bottom bezels are not as thin as the side-bezels. And everything else is similar to 840 G6 on the top and bottom bezels.

Here the screen produces 52% sRGB which is really and this is going to be the biggest disadvantge of 850 G6.

SPEAKERS

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

The HP Elitebook 840 G6 has got the Bang & Olufsen Dual stereo speakers and this speakers has got the 3 multi-array microphone. The audio quality of this speakers are really nice but I notice that this speakers lacks a little bass which disappoints me. These speakers are lcoated on the top of the keyboard and these produces nice audio quality. If the speakers are located on the bottom of the laptop than it the audio produce by these would be just average. So in my opinion these speakers produces nice audio but it just lacks a bit of bass which is OK.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

This device has also got Bang & Olufsen dual-stereo speakers with three multi-array microphones. These speakers are also located just above the keyboard and because these speakers are located the audio quality these speakers produced is really good but just like the 840 G6’s speakers these speakers also lacks bass which is not great as these is an upgraded version of the 840 G6. But if you are someone who just don’t care about bass than this laptop is most suitable to you.

PERFORMANCE

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

On this unit, we have got an Intel core i7-8565U Processor with Intel UHD Graphics 620. It has the same 16 GB DDR4 RAM and we got 1 TB SSD for storage. This performance of this laptop is really nice as the processor of this laptop can handle almost all the task without any issues. This laptop is perfect for those working professionals who have to perform basic and day to day task like using microsoft excel, MS Word Office, etc. You can also do some heavy work like using photoshop. Overall this is a nice processor which can be used to do some heavy work without any major lags.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

Here, on this unit we have got Intel core i5-8265U processor with Intel’s UHD Graphics 620. It has got 16 GB DDR4 RAM with 512 GB SSD for storage. This processor is not very good for someone who has to do a lot of heavy task. But this laptop is for someone who has to basic task with some heavy task as well. We didn’t get the high-end processor varient on this device. However, this processor also performs really nice but not as good as 840 G6’s processor.

BATTERY

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

This device has got the battery of 50 WHr and it can lasts from 10 to 12 hours which is pretty good battery life in a single charge. This device also comes with a 65-watt charger which is a fast charger and it can charge your laptop very fast which is really nice for a busy person.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

This laptop has also several like two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (charging) port, a USB Type-C connector port, a RJ-45 ethernet port, a headphone/microphone jack, a HDMI port, a docking connector, and one power point. WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

HP EliteBook 840 G6:

It weights 1.78 Kg which is little heavy for a premium laptop. Its dimensions are 32.6 x 23.43 x 1.79 cm.

HP EliteBook 850 G6:

This laptop weights 3.94 pounds/ 1.79 kg which is similar to the weight of 840 G6. The dimension of this laptop are 9.9 x 14.6 x 0.7-inches.

WHICH ONE YOU SHOULD BUY?

Well, according to me HP Elitebook 840 G6 is best option as 850 G6’s screen has very low brightness and the color performance is also very poor as well. Here, the display is the main deciding factor and for HP Elitebook 840 G6 is the best laptop to buy.
