Dell Inspiron 15 7501

In this series, the Inspiron makes laptops, especially for productivity works. So, the Dell Inspiron 7501 laptop will be good for productivity works and the performance of this is also good for computer tasks as well as some light gaming.

HP Envy 15

This is a premium ultra-portable made out of metal that’s supposed to be a mid-range laptop that’s outperforming and better priced than a Macbook Pro 16, Dell XPS 15, or even an XPS 17.

The design really looks modern. I really like how thin the bezels are around the screen that is really nice. The matte finish all over the body of the laptop also looks good and gives the premium look.

It has a nice screen. The keyboard is silver and the lights are like white-ish, it’s a bit difficult to see the lettering. Also, the keyboard is pretty comfortable to use.

HP Envy 15

The design of this laptop is really nice and portable. It’s light, thin and looks modern. The matte finish gives a premium look to the laptop.

This laptop has a thin gap between the display and the keyboard when it’s closed. It allows for two things; the first one, airflow is better when you have the laptop close, this is super important if you’re planning to use this as a desk setup because you’re going to keep the display closed and use your monitors, so it allows for better airflow. The second reason is that it offers a more comfortable typing experience, as the little surface on the right and left side of the touchpad allows your palms to rest naturally and then your fingers are leveled with the keyboard. So, when you’re typing on this for a prolonged period of time, it just offers a more comfortable typing experience. The keyboard is good like Macbook Pro but not that much good the Surface laptops and Thinkpad, just a bit mushier but overall no issues in typing.

Dell Inspiron 15 7501

Here, the display quality is neither too great nor too poor. It’s a full HD WVA display with 1920 x 1080 resolution which is pretty good for an average priced laptop, also with a narrow border. This display gives a modern look and also the color and brightness are really great for this price range.

HP Envy 15

Now, the one area that this laptop falls behind is the display, at least in terms of the aspect ratio. The XPS and the Macbook Pro both support 16 by 10. this is a 4k OLED 60-hertz display that’s 16 by 9, so much more geared towards media consumption but not as good for productivity. The display itself is OLED, this is the same Samsung OLED panel you’ve seen in the Razer Blade and in some of the Dell XPS 15. The only area it kind of suffers in is PWM flicker. So, if you leave the brightness below 50%, you will have irritation if you’re sensitive to PWM. So, if you buy this laptop and you’re sensitive to it, keep the brightness above 50%.

Personally, I love the default setting optimized for color accuracy, you could also calibrate the display to look better. When you do that, there is some graininess but you don’t see the graininess when it’s directly in front of you. You have to bring it super close to your eyes in order to see it but it’s not a deal-breaker. The display does support touch. You can go ahead and touch the screen but it does not support HP’s active pen. If you want to use a pen, you have to buy something like an HP Spectre X360.

Dell Inspiron 15 7501

It has the 10th gen i7 or i5 Intel Core processor and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 video card. It also has 16 GB of RAM, up to one terabyte NVMe solid-state drive, and a 97 WHr battery. Obviously, this is not a gaming laptop and you could buy a gaming laptop for around a similar price. For a mix of all the works, you can buy this one.

There is a charging port, HDMI port, a USB one, a USB type-c port. On the other side, you have an audio jack, another USB, and a micro SD card. For a smoother experience in performance, it gives a package of 8GB DDR4 SDRAM with 256GB or 512GB SSD storage if you can’t afford high-end storage. Even this package makes the laptop run smoothly without any jitter and glitches.

As an additional or extra feature, there is a micro SD card slot which may be a disadvantage, it will be better to give a full SD card slot. The keyboard comes with a back-lit and the webcam comes in 720p. The quality of speakers and the dual array microphone is pretty good. The speed of the memory is also increased as compared to other models which is a good one.

HP Envy 15

This laptop has i7-10750H and i5-10300H processors with NVIDIA 6GB GTX graphics. Also, there is RAM available up to 16GB and storage up to 1 TB which gives a good performance and enough storage.

Here, the webcam does not support Windows Hello, it’s just a regular 720p webcam. It doesn’t have the best look but it’s good enough for conference calls. If you want to use Windows Hello, you have to use the fingerprint scanner on the bottom deck of the keyboard.

Unfortunately, there’s no power delivery using one of the two USB type-c ports on the left-hand side. It has Thunderbolt 3 and it does support 4 PCIe lanes. Unfortunately, it has a micro SD card.

There are different things in settings that you can configure in the HP Omen command center. So, most of the tests I did were done on performance mode. This basically allows the laptop to do an extreme level of performance. High temperatures over 95 to 96 degrees celsius, clock speeds over 4 gigahertz which is great because most laptops just don’t allow that with that much heat happening, and with that, you get really great performance.

Keyboard temperatures were also really good which is under 50 degrees celsius the entire time under performance mode. Now, if these temperatures are too hot for you, you can set it to default mode and default mode will give you temperatures in the 80 degrees range when it’s under load and it’ll make you much more comfortable using your laptop. Now, if you do use performance mode, just note that a fan noise will be loud, it will be about 57 to 58 decibels. If you drop it down to default, it’ll be closer to 50, and then if you put it on quiet mode, you’re going to get less performance, but you’ll have very quiet fans like 40 decibels the entire time.

Dell Inspiron 15 7501

The CPU options available here are the 10th generation Intel Core i5-10300H and Intel Core i7-10750H processors. Both the versions are a good one to buy but it depends on you that how heavy work you do on this laptop. As this is a new-gen processor, the performance of this processor is really great with video editing, some light gaming, productivity works, and everything.

HP Envy 15

Performance that’s where this thing completely excels. The vapor chamber inside of here keeps this thing cool and even though it’s using an i7 10750H or i5 10300H, it still managed to beat out the Dell XPS 15 with its eight-core processor doing a simple Cinebench run that is very impressive for this machine.

dell inspiron 15-7501

Dell Inspiron 15 7501

Available options in the GPU are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GDDR5 4GB graphics and Intel UHD graphics. The available graphics is also upgraded and through that give a good performance even in gaming and video editing. Maybe you can’t do some high-end gaming and editing but normally, in this, you can do almost everything but keep in mind that this is not a gaming laptop.

HP Envy 15

The GPU here is RTX 2060 MAX-Q which is about 5 to 10 percent slower than a regular RTX 2060 still outperforms the dell XPS 15 because that laptop can only be configured with a 1650TI. Now interestingly, this laptop beat out both the XPS 17 and XPS 15 when it came to Adobe Premiere Pro, it just offered slightly better performance most likely because the GPU is performing a little bit better than the other two laptops. The only area that this laptop lost compared to those two laptops is photoshop and in all fairness, those other laptops have two extra cores to work with, especially considering photoshop is super CPU intensive.

If we discuss about gaming, this is not a gaming laptop like you shouldn’t buy this strictly for gaming but it can game. The RTX 2060 Max Q inside of here can handle most titles very comfortably between medium and high settings.

Dell Inspiron 15 7501

In terms of battery, it has a 3-cell 56 WHr battery inside it. It may give you around 6 hours of work without any hassle. This battery life may get less if you set high brightness in the display.

HP Envy 15

In terms of battery life, around 6 hours which is not bad considering that this display is 4k. It has a 86 WHr battery inside it, so it may give you decent battery life. This may be an average battery life for some people but for this performance and price range, this battery life is good enough.

If you are looking for a decent featured laptop with a reasonable price for all your productivity works, multi-tasking, light gaming, then Dell Inspiron 7501 will be good for it. If you are looking for a laptop for productivity and a little bit of light gaming, it’s really hard to look at the Macbook Pro 16 or XPS 15 and spend more money on those when essentially you’re getting a lot of the performance in this HP Envy 15. The only reason to go for those other laptops is if you want the finer things in life like if you want slightly better build quality, the better speakers, maybe better battery life, and maybe the carbon fiber deck or the 16 by 10 aspect ratio but for the price point, this laptop is an absolute winner.

In my opinion, both are a great buy and both the laptops have some similar features with a decent performance and the price is also in very close range. So, it will be your choice that which one looks better for you but the HP Envy 15 may perform well in gaming than the Inspiron 7501 because of the GPUs in these laptops. Also, HP Envy gives great features like its display quality is great, design, many other things.
