Asus ZenBook 14

DESIGN

Dell Inspiron 14 7400

It’s made for home and office for the business user. Build quality is superb. These Inspiron laptops are nearly XPS quality in terms of build quality like premium metal build and it is a 14-inch laptop. This 14-inch laptop comes in nice platinum silver. You would think a 14-inch laptop is going to be a little bit heavier but not this one. This one weighs only 2.78 pounds or 1.25 kilos. It’s only 14.25 millimeters thick or 0.56 of an inch.

The keyboard is really good. If you’re going to be typing away all day on this keyboard, I think you’re going to enjoy it, I do like the trackpad as well.

Asus Zenbook 14 UX425

This ultrabook has a premium feel in a great way. The Zenbook is a super well-built laptop. This laptop only weighs 2.4 pounds which is light enough that it won’t be a burden on the back and heavy enough to give the luxurious feel you want with a high-quality laptop. You can easily open the laptop with one hand and it has a two-tier hinge system, which’s quite nice and sturdy.

On the top, you have a metallic finish that’s cold to the touch. There is a very minute texture that comes in the form of a little circle that kind of acts around the Asus logo and it looks pretty cool on it. Also, it has a nice shine to it. As you make your way to the rear side of the laptop, you will notice large exhaust fans from which all the hot air comes out from, also in the center you’ll see the Zenbook branding. As you make your way to the bottom, Asus did not cheap on this part. On the bottom, you have a metallic finish whereas a lot of other manufacturers put a hard TPU built.

One super impressive thing is the trackpad. Not only is it massive inside, but it’s also got a super-premium feel. It’s a glass trackpad that has super tactile clicks, they are subtle, well balanced, and this is a really high-quality piece of mechanism. If that wasn’t enough, Asus actually put a built touch sensor number pad on the trackpad. You can just pretty the button on the top right corner of the trackpad to get the number pad on it. This is phenomenal, I love the minimalist feature and it just looks so elegant.

Coming to the keyboard, this has a fantastic keyboard in terms of quality. It’s a fully backlit keyboard, you can increase the brightness level settings and it’s well lit. The overall quality of keys is superb, the keys are not loose and they are actually sturdy and firm. Also, you have a good tactile feel when you type on and it’s not super loud which will be great if you type in a quiet environment. Furthermore, it’s worth noting that the key travel is more than enough, giving a good typing experience. Unfortunately, you don’t get an option for a fingerprint scanner onboard.

DISPLAY

Dell Inspiron 14 7400

What separates this over most other laptops is the 16 by 10 ratio display which is amazing. We have 100% sRGB and I measured over 300 nits of brightness. It’s a nice resolution too, it’s not crazy 4K but it’s 2560 by 1600 which will be the perfect resolution for you.

Asus Zenbook 14 UX425

In this Asus Zenbook 14, you have super thin bezels which are a little noticeable. When other manufacturers decreasing the quality levels to cutting the cost, Asus concentrating on their features and the display. You have a modest IPS display with a 1080p resolution. You have a color spectrum rating of 100% sRGB, this laptop has some of the most amazing colors I’ve seen in this price range. The colors are super vivid, lively, and they have a lot of depth to them. If you’re a creative user who does photo editing, color grading, or video editing, you will absolutely appreciate every pixel of this display.

In terms of brightness, you have a peak brightness of 300 nits which is more than ample for all kinds of indoor settings and It’s fine for most outdoor settings. However, if you use this in direct sunlight, you may find this brightness ever so slightly short.

WHICH TO BUY?

The Asus Zenbook worth every penny you put on it. It has a good build quality, a nice trackpad with multi-function capabilities including a number pad sensor, and a great performance. At the end of the day, I will choose Inspiron 7400 laptop instead of Asus Zenbook 14 because the Inspiron 7400 has a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, good resolution display and also comes at less price range and the Zenbook 14 lacks these all features.
