Pattern unlock is one of the most widely used security measures on Android.

But why doesn't iOS have the pattern unlock feature yet?

Well, the answer is security.

Pattern unlocking is the worst method of security, according to studies conducted over the last ten years.

In one experiment, researchers simulated shoulder-surfing.

A popular technique for copying passwords where an attacker stands nearby and watches the victim enter their password.

On the other hand, only 11% of attackers successfully guessing a 6-digit Passcode.

In the study, 64% of attackers were able to memorize pattern unlock.

Apple decided not to include pattern unlock on their devices due to these vulnerabilities and instead provided a 4/6-digit Passcode.

By only offering a passcode, Apple is keeping their user experience streamlined, simple, and secure.
