Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 has got an aluminium metal body and it feels quite durable in hands. The design of the Tab A 10.1 is very much identical to its previous versions. This device is pretty heavy which means it can’t be held in one hand. The build quality and the design of the Tab A 10.1 is very simple which is my preference.
Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has got an aluminium body and it feels pretty sturdy. The design of this device is very similar to other devices and also this device feels very heavy which is not good for someone who likes to use it in one hand. The button placements are good and also there is a headphone jack as well.

Tab A 10.1 has got a 10.1-inch screen which is already in the name. This is a Full HD display and the top and side bezels are also thinner than on the Tab A 8.0. It is also a laminated display which means there is no air gap between the panel and the pixels. The viewing angles are wide and brightness is good but you will face some difficulties in direct sunlight.
Tab A 8.0 has got an 8-inch screen but it is only HD display. The brightness is decent but not good enough to use it in direct sunlight. I played some videos on Youtube and it maxes out at 720 pixels. The bezels are also thick which doesn’t give it a modern look.

Both the devices are good enough for using it for day to day task. You can also do multitasking as there is a split-screen mode. Multitasking works best with simple apps like Youtube, Chrome, etc.
Some high-end games like PUBG are also playable on both devices. If you turn the graphics setting to low then the game runs very smoothly. The graphics also look nice as well. When I played Asphalt 9, Tab A 10.1 beats the Tab A 8.0. So if you are after performance, Tab A 10.1 is much better choice.

The front and the back cameras on this device are better than Tab A 8.0 cameras. These cameras took pretty decent photos for a tablet but the images are not as good in comparison of smartphone. However, these cameras are good enough for scanning documents or video calling or some quick snapshots as well.
Battery-wise, Tab A 8.0 is much better than Tab A 10.1. Tab A 8.0 lasts for 13 hours with just a single charge and 10 hours for Tab A 10.1.
WHICH ONE IS BETTER?
In my opinion, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 is the device you should go for as it is a better performing device. It also has a nice display, good camera, and better speakers as well. On the other hand, you should consider buying the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 if you want a basic device for day to day task like watching videos on Youtube or surfing the web. This device has also got a nice battery life which is the only plus point in this device.
