Microsoft Surface Go 2
The Microsoft Surface Go 2 has got a very similar design to its predecessor Surface Go. There is almost no difference in the design of the Surface Go2 and the Surface Go. The kickstand is very sturdy and durable. This kickstand is really great for someone who wants to watch movies or videos without holding the device in hands. Under the kickstand, we get to see a slot for the microSD card.
Overall, there is no change in the design and the build quality of the Microsoft Surface Go 2. It’s the same as the Microsoft Surface Go.
Microsoft Surface Go
The Microsoft Surface Go looks pretty good and unique. This device has got landscape-style design because it is made mainly for working professionals. The back of the device is made of metal and the finishing of the device looks good. It feels really good and sturdy holding it in hand. The first thing I notice is the plastic strip with a different shade.
Now, when I turn the device to the front I notice large bezels around the display which are clearly visible even without turning on the device. However, these bezels are necessary for the thumbs to rest.

Microsoft Surface Go 2
The Surface Go 2 has got a 10.5-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels with an aspect ratio of 3:2. Also, the bezels are quite thinner than its predecessor but it’s a little issue for the grip of the device as it can’t be held comfortably.
The brightness is also good enough to use in outdoor lighting conditions. Some other aspects like the color reproduction and contrast is also good enough as well. The other great thing about this device is that it is fully laminated. This means that if you are an artist or loves to sketch then this display is good for you. As there is no air gap between the display and the panel of the device. Thus, you will feel like you are drawing on a piece of paper.
Microsoft Surface Go
The Microsoft Surface Go has a 10-inch screen with pixel sense display resolution. The device has an aspect ratio of 3:2 which is really good for watching movies but keep in mind that you will still get black space on the top and bottom while watching videos or movies.
Here, we get thick bezels on all the sides which is a little essential for the grip of the device and also for the thumbs to rest while watching movies or playing games.
This is a really beautiful display with a resolution of 1800 x 1200p. Also, the color reproduction, contrast, and brightness of the display are nice. The brightness is good enough for outdoor usage but it does get a little dark which is fine. Overall, the display is good enough for watching movies or videos and also good enough for working as well.

Microsoft Surface Go 2
The Microsoft Surface Go 2 can be used for watching Netflix, browsing, reading or any other simple apps that can be used without any problems. But the problem comes in when you are using a lot of apps at the same time. As this device is not good enough for multi-tasking. But if you are a working professional then this device is of great use for you because the office apps work great. But I would not recommend you to use too many apps at the same time.
This device is good enough for playing some simple games like cuphead. But I wouldn’t recommend to use this device for playing heavy games like PUBG, Call Of Duty or Fortnite. But if you want to play games than recommend to set the graphics to the lowest. But then also you should expect some lags or stutters as this device is not made for gaming.
However, if you want to do simple office work or every day work than this device is great for you. But don’t expect to do multi-tasking on this device. However, simple apps like YouTube, Chrome or some other apps works fine. But you can’t use too many apps at the same time because you the apps might get close in the background.
Microsoft Surface Go
The Microsoft Surface Go has got two front facing stereo speakers. These speakers are on the side of the screens. And because of the placement of the speaker the sound is really good. Also, if you want to use this device for watching movies or listening to music than this device is great for that.
The Microsoft Surface Go is good for lite or simple games but heavy games like PUBG or Call Of Duty can’t be played properly. If you still want to play this games than lower the graphics to play game smoothly. If you want to play this game at high graphics than expect some lags while playing this game.
Now, if you are someone who wants to do photo editing than you can edit photos on this device. But if you try to edit a lot of photos together than expect to see some lags or stutters or the app might crash as well. Overall, photo editing is possible but don’t try to edit a lot of photos at the same time.

Microsoft Surface Go 2
These cameras are also very similar to its predecessor. Even the quality of these cameras are pretty good, even little bit better than its predecessor. Also, these cameras supports video recording in Full HD which is quite good. Overall, these cameras are great for taking pictures but in my opinion the cameras on our mobile phone takes better photos.
Now, according to my everyday usage, the battery life on this device lasts for 5 to 6 hours which is very disappointing as it has not been improved. Also, its predecessor gives the same amount of battery life.
Microsoft Surface Go
The back camera has an 8-megapixel resolution. This camera works very well and it also has HDR abilities. Also, this camera works way better in bright lighting conditions and takes really nice photos.
However, this camera doesn’t perform that well in dark lighting conditions. I would recommend you to use these cameras mainly for video calling or document scanning because we can still take better photos from our mobile phones.
Now, according to my usage I am getting around 5 to 6 hours of active usage of the device. This is a really good battery life for a device. Also, the charging can also be done relatively faster if you are using Type-C adapter.
Which Should You Buy?
Now, if I need to buy one of these devices then I would definitely go for Microsoft Surface Go 2 because it is the more advanced version. But if you don’t have a budget then you can definitely go with the Microsoft Surface Go because the specs and performance of both of these devices are very similar. Also, if you are thinking to upgrade to the Surface Go 2 from the Surface Go then I wouldn’t recommend upgrading because there is not much difference in the performance of these devices.
