DETAILED REVIEW:

DESIGN

HP Elite Dragonfly:

The HP Elite Dragonfly is very lightweight which makes this a perfect laptop to travel with. Here, I have got the HP Elite Dragonfly without HP SureView. This device is mostly made of recycle material which is a really nice thing for our environment. This year this is the first device made out of the used and recycled ocean plastic. This laptop also has the Oleophobic coating which prevents the laptop from getting fingerprints. The design of this laptop is simple and classy and it’s isn’t over the top like the HP spectre. This laptop is one of the best looking laptop that HP has makes and its one of the best for this size and its class. This is the 2-in-1 laptop means this has got the strong and sturdy hinges which can help the laptop to convert in to tablet. This laptop is made out of magnesium and also this laptop doesn’t flex.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

The HP Elitebook x360 uses an all metal chasis and it does not have a lot of flex to it. It’s also not very heavy as well. On the top of the laptop you do get the HP logo with a little chrome finish as well. On the top of the lid you also get an antenna line for bluetooth and wifi. Overall this is a really nice, sturdy and very smooth looking laptop. However, the main feature in the design of this laptop is that it’s a 2-in-1 convertible laptop. And the hinges are pretty nice and not like the other laptops where the hinges get pretty loose after a while.

KEYBOARD & TOUCHPAD

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This is a pretty nice keyboard and it also gives a bit of tactile feedback. On this keyboard it doesn’t feel like your fingers going to bottom out, it also has the pretty good key travel as well considering the design of this laptop. This laptop is very quite with a less rattle and this laptop also has the multi-stage backlight that allows you to do the work in low lighting conditions or in the totally dark room. This laptop also has the precision touchpad which is very responsive and the scrooling with two fingers is buttery smooth. All the windows works just as they show. They did a great job with the touchpad.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

This device has got one of the best keyboard in the market. The key travel on this keyboard is very good and the travel space is 1.1 MM. The keys on this keyboard are very nice and these keys also have got very good backlighting which you will able to see very because the keys are black. You also have got the controls in the function keys for most of the business oriented apps like skype.

Here, we also have got a fingerprint reader for security purposes. You can use the fingerprint reader if you don’t want to use the login system.

The trackpad on this device is decent in size, it has got the glass surface, its smooth and feels really nice when clicking on the trackpad. It also have got the precision drivers as well and this are very good precision drivers as well.

DISPLAY

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This device has got the 1-watt low power display with FHD and pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080p. This display is simply excellent when it to comes to brightness and when it comes to batterylife its a great blend. This display has got the really deep blacks, vibrant colors, and it has some really good contrast as well. This display maxes out at 343 nits making this a great choice for both indoor and outdoor use. This screen produces very well color gamut of 99% sRGB and 76% Adobe RGB making this laptop a good choice for editing work.

The side bezels on this screen are really slim but however, the top and the bottom are not as slim as the side bezels. On the top bezel we have got a full HD 720p 30fps camera which is really nice to use. This is also a touchscreen panel and its very responsive as well and this another great and convenient way to navigate through the OS.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

This device has got the 14-inch display and this is a full HD matte display. There is a new technology which is used here to make this a matte display. What’s cool about this screen is that it would last for a very long time and that finish might never wear off. Which is really important because this screen supports inking. So you get the best of both. Now, if you don’t like having Full HD or matte than that’s fine because there are several other options like the regular Full HD or you also have the option for the 4K screen as well. There is also an option for SureView privacy screen which basically gives you privacy to do your work when you are in public places like cafes or restaurants.

On the top of the display you have a semi-thick bezel, with a Windows Hello camera with two huge IR lenses and Full HD webcam which is just OK. The side of the display has got really thin bezels which is really nice. However, the bottom of the screen has a little bezel which gives a parallel look to the display.

SPEAKERS

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This device has got the two top and two bottom firing speakers. This are Bang & Olufsen speakers are good but these are not the best speakers I have ever heard. This speakers are prety good to fill a little room of course and these speakers does have a little bass which is pretty good.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

This device has got two top-firing speakers on both the side of the speakers. Besides this there are also two other speakers on the bottom of the laptop, which means we have got quad speakers on this device and HP has done an excellent job with these speakers. This are some of the best speakers you can get on a laptop. But this speakers lacks a bit of bass which is not going to be a problem as this laptops are mainly targeted to someone who is doing business. As a matter of fact these laptop has the best audio experience for a business laptop.

PERFORMANCE

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This device has got the Intel i5-8265U The productivity work like Microsoft office, E-mail, Web browsing, etc. works really well with this processor. This device has got the 16 GB of RAM things like video editing, high-end photoshop are gonna be OK on this device. You can definitely 1080p video editing so you will not have problem in that regard. But if you want something with more power than you should definitely buy a external GPU.

If you are a gamer than this laptop is not for you but if you want to play games occassionally than you can play on this laptop by just lowering the settings and than you will be get some playable frame rates but than also its not that good as well. As this is not a dedicated gaming laptop.

However, this device is targeted to business owners and its really nice laptop for them.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

This device has got the Kabi Lake Intel i5-8350 processor with Intel UHD graphics 620. This device has got the 16 GB DDR4 RAM and 256 GB of SSD for storage. This is a very power efficient storage and this can be used for most of the businesses as it can perform all the task without any issues. The Intel UHD 620 graphics is very nice and it can be used to play some of the light games on the laptop but the heavy games can’t be played on this laptop. However this laptop is targeted to business owners and its one of the best performing laptop for all the business oriented work.

BATTERY

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This laptop has got 56.2 WHr battery and if you have the Intel Core i5 processor on the laptop than you can have battery life for almost 13 hours in single which is really nice. Here, we also get to see 65-watt USB-C power adapter which gives you 50% battery in just 30 minutes of charging. And it takes 2 hours and 12 minutes to charge this device completely.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

There is 56 WHr battery for a which is a little less than the previous laptop with 67 WHr laptop. Here, the battery can last upto 9 to 10 hours with a single charge. Here also we have got the 65 watt fast charger in the box.

PORT SELECTION

HP Elite Dragonfly:

On the leftside of the laptop we have got a USB A 3.1, a power button, a kensington lock and the sim tray for the optional LTE.

On the right side we get two thunderbolt three ports, a headphone/microphone jack and an HDMI 1.4 port.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

On the left side of the laptop we get a USB Type-A, a headphone/microphone jack, a power button, kensington lock and a sim slot for LTE as well.

On the right side of the laptop we get a USB Type-A, full HDMI, two USB type-C port, two thunderbolt 3 and we can use one the thunderbolt for charging as well. You also get the volume buttons which is really as this is a 2-in-1 laptop so it would be very convenient to use in the tablet mode.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

HP Elite Dragonfly:

This laptop almost weights around 2.5 pounds/ 1.14 Kg which makes this laptop lighter than a Macbook air. The dimensions of this laptop are 7.8 x 12 x 0.6 inches.

HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5:

This laptop weights 2.98 pounds which means its little heavier than HP Elite dragonfly. The dimensions of this laptop are 12.7 x 8.5 x 0.67 inches.

WHICH ONE YOU SHOULD BUY?

According to me HP Elite dragonfly is the best laptop to buy as it’s better in almost all the categories like battery life, weight, display, performance, speakers, etc. So for me HP Elite droagonfly would be the choice to buy.
