DESIGN

Mi Note 10:

It’s been so long since the previous Mi Note came out that the evolution in design was huge. The new one has far slimmer edges, adopts a drop-shaped notch, and have five cameras on the rear. It is the global version of the Mi CC9 Pro, released in China.

As expected from a premium phone, the body is made of metal and the back is made of glass. In addition to the traditional black and white colors, we have more colorful options like green or blue.

The design may resemble the Mi 9 a little, but here Xiaomi decided to bet on curved edges, which should also be present on the Mi 10. This helps to make the design more elegant, but the curvature of the screen is useless and even complicates the visibility outside the home with an increase in glass reflections.

OnePlus 7T:

The 7T has a refined glass and metal design. I like the contrast of the polished metal frame against the matte glass but this matte finish feels really nice in my hand and I feel like I have a better grip with it.

The 7T doesn’t have a pop-up camera, instead the selfie camera is housed in a notch which I got used to right away. The screen isn’t curved and I think I prefer this over the 7T pro’s curved display but it really depends on what your preference is.

I will say the curved screen does make it easier to do the back gesture but I don’t like how a phone with a curved display can sometimes distort the edges of the video or a website that you’re looking at.

CAMERA

Mi Note 10:

The Note 10 is Xiaomi’s first with five cameras. In addition to the insane 108 MP sensor, we also have two zoom lenses (one 2x and the other 5x), a wide angle, and another dedicated for macro.

Let’s start with its huge sensor developed by Samsung. It groups four pixels into one, as we’ve seen several phones with a 48 MP camera do this year. This ends up resulting in final images of 27 MP, which is enough to record many details. You can even capture 108 MP images, but in addition to having very large files taking up space, you still have to wait longer for the image to be processed.

We recommend leaving it in the default mode which is better, and the results are excellent. The Mi Note 10’s camera can capture more details than any other Xiaomi we’ve tested. The images are cleaner with much less noise, the color balance is better than most flagship and the final quality is at the level of the Pixel line.

The portrait mode does a very good job with both the rear and the front. You can choose the focus point and even the intensity of the effect even after the photo is saved.

OnePlus 7T:

The camera is where oneplus made some changes by adding a third sensor that wasn’t present on the oneplus 7. The setup is made up of a 48 megapixel main camera, a 12 megapixel telephoto with 2 times optical zoom, and a 16 megapixel ultra wide camera with autofocus and a macro mode.

Picture quality is mostly identical to the 7 and 7T pro since they all use the same 48 megapixels sensor. Images generally look great with above-average dynamic range, details aren’t the best.

There is a 16 megapixel selfie camera on a 7T and it’s identical to the 7 pro pop-up camera. Selfies are generally a bit softer than other flagships but the details are still good enough, skin tones are mostly accurate and HDR helps keep the backgrounds well exposed. You can also take portraits with the front camera and subject separation isn’t bad.

DISPLAY

Mi Note 10:

There is Gorilla Glass 5 protection that covers the AMOLED panel with Full HD + resolution. The screen has high brightness and supports HDR 10. It will not harm your eyes when using your phone in the dark.

By default, the colors displayed on the Mi Note 10 screen have a good balance. Only the white that has a colder tone than it should. This can be easily corrected by changing the temperature to ‘Warm’ in the settings. If you like to see colors bounce off the screen, you can explore the full potential of AMOLED technology by switching to the ‘Saturated’ profile.

OnePlus 7T:

The display is a 6.55 inch fluid AMOLED screen with a slightly longer 20:9 ratio and full HD resolution. Viewing the screen in direct sunlight is never an issue and I didn’t notice any problems with polarized sunglasses either. Oneplus is using the 90 Hertz fluid AMOLED screen for all its phones. Even though the phone is cheaper than most flagships, the display is somewhere that oneplus decided to spend a little more on and it helps the phone stand out.

The in display fingerprint scanner is among the quickest I’ve tested these days. It’s accurate and reliable and you barely even see the animation when unlocking the phone.

AUDIO

Mi Note 10:

Something we would like to see in Note 10 is the presence of a double speaker. Unfortunately, there’s only bottom firing speaker. The sound quality is great and there is no noticeable distortion even when the volume is at maximum.

OnePlus 7T:

OnePlus 7T comes with set of stereo loudspeakers. The Speaker also supports Dolby Atmos. And I think it has a much better Speakers when compared to Mi Note 10.

PERFORMANCE

Mi Note 10:

Xiaomi spent all their money on the camera because it is launched with Snapdragon 730G. I expected to see a Snapdragon 855.

Overall, in my tests the speed of the phone was okay but i think Snapdragon 730G is not future-proof. There is a serious lack of optimization from MIUI that significantly compromises the performance of the hardware, making it slower than its rivals and even cheaper models.

The lack of optimization also compromises gaming performance. In PUBG, we noticed constant drops in fps, and also other games do not have the fluidity expected from hardware. The good news is that all of this can be fixed with software updates.

OnePlus 7T:

90 Hertz display will give you better experience if you play games as long as those games support the higher frame rates.

The Pubg was running insane at highest settings. There was little drops of raw fps but it can be fixed by lowering the game settings.

SOFTWARE

Mi Note 10:

Mi Note 10 has a poorly optimized software. It is not just hardware that makes a good smartphone.

MIUI 11 has serious fluidity problems. Everything stutters, from switching between two apps, returning to the home screen. And for such an expensive device, this is completely unacceptable.

Of course, again we will emphasize that this can be fixed in the future. But for now, the experience delivered is disappointing. But not everything is negative with the Mi Note 10 and all its features work well, including the infrared to control electronics.

OnePlus 7T:

The oneplus 7T comes with Android 10 out of the box laid over with a customized oxygen OS. The Android 10 update brings more ways to customize the UI. You can change the accent color, you can change the shape of the icons, either the launcher or the quick toggles and you can apply system-wide dark mode which also comes on with supported apps. There’s also the customizable shelf which lets you configure short cuts and add widgets and I like the parking feature that remembers where you parked and for how long.

You can choose between the standard navbar or Android 10 gesture control. The new Android 10 gestures are more intuitive, smoother action, and you can switch apps in one move.

BATTERY

Mi Note 10:

When you look at the 5200 mAh battery and think that it should deliver autonomy for several days. But it can only give 2 days of battery life without the charger.

At least it comes with a powerful 30W power charger that makes the device recharge this giant battery in just over 1 hour.

OnePlus 7T:

Powering the 7T is a 3800 mAh battery. It uses the same warp charger 30 adapter from before but the 7T now supports warp charged 30T, an update was made to the batteries hardware to accept the adapters max output for longer.

WHICH ONE YOU SHOULD BUY?

At the end of the day, If you want better good display and performance then you should choose OnePlus 7T. And if you uses the camera more then choose the Mi Note 10.

If you liked the look of the OnePlus 7 Pro but didn’t like its size or price-tag then the OnePlus 7T could be a good option for you. It’s more compact, has a great screen and is capable of capturing good images. Generally, dynamic range was good and colours were accurate in images captured both indoors and outside (in good light) so there’s no real complaint in the camera department either. Overall, it’s a great smartphone but does it ‘wow’ us? Not really but then again, it takes quite a bit of innovation to do that nowadays. What we will say, though, is if you’re looking for a smartphone that gives you some of the features you would expect to see on flagship smartphones at a lower cost, the OnePlus 7T is worth considering.

By 3G UK
The OnePlus 7T has almost everything you’d expect from a flagship and then some, all at a remarkably low price. There are a few omissions, but on the whole this is a class-leading handset.

By IT PRO
At 549, the 7T is more expensive than the Google Pixel 4 and not far off the S10 (still well behind the iPhone, though) which suggests that the company’s miraculous run of producing pound for pound value is over. However, this doesn’t have the shoddy battery life of the Pixel 4, or the small display issues and is still over 100 cheaper than Samsung or Huawei’s flagships. It’s no longer as much of a bargain, but it is still a belter.
