DESIGN

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

It’s an adorable design with that military standard grade tested. This is an extremely thin, light and very portable. It’s got an aluminum-magnesium alloy chassis, that is certainly adorable. And it’s a series of military-grade testing making this one extremely adorable and rock-solid laptop.

Now when it comes to the webcam, it’s an infrared webcam which means it’s Windows hello compatible allowing you to login with face recognition it worked well no issues with that. And this has a privacy switch which allows you to turn off your webcam. This gives you more privacy more security, but keep in mind this doesn’t turn off the microphone so that’s something to be aware of.

You can’t upgrade the RAM and Wi-Fi cards. But you can upgrade the SSD if you want to.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

Lenovo ThinkPad X395 is a 13-inch business Laptop. The lid is smooth, matte black plastic with silver printed ThinkPad logo.

The Interior is also matte black plastic. It’s very light in weight, thin and fast. There were no sharp corners or edges anywhere, and the built quality is also good. You can carry this laptop anywhere easily.

It’s 720 HD camera is comes with a shutter for your security, so anytime you can slide the shutter and turn it off the lens and disable the camera.

DISPLAY

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

It’s got a beautiful display. It is a 13.3 inch IPS display that’s a larger display on last year’s model. This is a touch display with an anti-glare coating on it. It’s not matte but it’s very close to it. It cuts down the reflections and makes it easier to work in direct sunlight or outdoor settings which is pretty good.

It does have pretty slim side bezels, and there is a space on the top that is the webcam. It does cover the Color gamut pretty well at 95% SRGB.

This a good choice for those creative professionals that do Lightroom, Photoshop and video editing, And that is 314 nits. It was bright enough to use them both indoor and outdoor scenarios. And because of that has an anti-glare coating, you don’t get those unnecessary reflections cut down them, and making it great in direct sunlight.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

It’s a 13-inch IPS display with 1920 X 1080 resolution and a brightness of 300nits. It has a good quality of display so you can watch full HD videos and photos. And because it has AMD Radeon FreeSync technology you can watch anything with very good clarity.

Here they also give you 180-degree turn which gives you the most flexibility in display.

WEIGHT & DIMENSIONS

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

The weight of this laptop is 1.28 Kg, and the dimensions are (12.28 x 8.55 x 0.67) inches.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

This is 1.28 Kg laptop with (12.28 x 8.55x 0.66 inches) dimensions.

PERFORMANCE

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

And when it comes to performance you won’t be disappointed by the Lenovo ThinkPad X390. The one I have has the core i7-8565U that’s the processor a quad-core processor with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

And as you can see from these numbers, the performance is very good it is one of the better ones we’ve seen in a long time.

Now when it comes to gaming, this is not a gaming laptop, but you can play some older games if you turn down some of the settings, but if you want to play some of the new games then you will have some issues. There is no dedicated GPU on this laptop, but you still can add an external GPU.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

ThinkPad X395 has AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 3500U Processor, which runs on Windows 10 pro and runs most of the applications fast and smoothly. This is not a gaming laptop, but you can play some non-graphics-extensive games without any glitches on low settings. It has up to 8 GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 512 GB of PCI-e SSD storage.

PORT SELECTION

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

Now on the left side, you will get a USB Type-C 3.1, a thunderbolt 3 port but it’s only two lanes, not the four lanes that we’d like to see. You also get a USB-A port, HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5-millimeter headset jack.

On the right side, you will get an optional smart card reader and the second USB-A port.

And on the back, there is a SIM tray which is the optional LTE and your microSD card slot for storage expansion. And then the legendary ThinkPad logo with that lights up red, letting you know it’s powered on.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

On the left side of the laptop, there is dual USB-C AC, Ethernet port, USB 3.1, HDMI and headphone jack.

On the right side, there is a smart card reader, USB 3.1 and Kensington lock slot.

On the backside, there are two in one sim slot and MicroSD card reader.

KEYBOARD & TOUCHPAD

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

The keyboard it’s got excellent key travel and excellent tactile feedback. It feels good to type on especially for extended periods. It has a three-stage backlight allowing you to get worked on in a dark room or a dimly lit environment and that’s always great. It does have the TrackPoint, and it works well and very responsive as usual.

And the touchpad worked very well uses precision drivers was very responsive to finger scrolling was buttery smooth.

There’s a fingerprint scanner located right below the keyboard on the right-hand side and it allows you to login with Windows Hello giving you the security you need. It works well registering your finger pretty much every time you will going to use it.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

There is a fingerprint sensor below the keyboard. And the keyboard is very smooth with a red joystick on it which you can as an alternative. And the backlight on the keyboard helps you to work in dark easily.

Touchpad is also very smooth in use with multi-gesture support. It has 3 buttons on the top of the touchpad.

SPEAKERS

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

When it comes to the audio is surprised on how good the speakers are especially for a very thin and light portable laptop, there are two speakers located on the bottom.

I thought the volume is decent, there decent mids and I thought there was a hint of bass.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

There are two stereo speakers available on the bottom of the laptop. With Dolby Audio premium sound.

BATTERY

Lenovo Thinkpad x390 :

Now when it comes to the battery life is pretty good it’s got a 48-watt hour battery which is not the largest. but it did 7 hours and 52 minutes on continuous web-surfing test over Wi-Fi at 115 nits.

If you do need to plug in they do supply you with a 65-watt power adapter, and it only takes an hour and 48 minutes for a full charge.

Lenovo Thinkpad x395:

Lenovo claims 14.5 hours of battery life. But you can get 13 hours of battery life on constant use like surfing the web or working in MS Office.

It’s also configured with 65-watt Rapid fast-charger, which gives you back 80% of the power in just an hour of being plugged.

WHICH TO BUY?

After comparing these laptops I suggest you go with Lenovo Thinkpad x390. It is the perfect business laptop that has a good quality of a display, a long battery life, and many more features. Which are very useful in business laptops. So your money will worth it.
