DESIGN

Honor 8X:

Honor has departed from the typical styles of its X-series in 8X as it has an excellent premium look, making use of metal and glass. Different shades and glossy surface through several layers of glass at the back of the mobile gives it an attractive look. The disadvantage of this is that the mobile’s glass back can get damaged easily. But it must be noted that the build is well-made overall.

The power button and volume buttons are located on the right side, and the SIM and micro-SD card slot is located on the left of the phone. A single speaker and a headphone jack are present at the bottom of the mobile along with a USB port. USB-Type C is not present, which is entirely appropriate for this price range. On the left side of the back of the mobile, dual cameras are present, and Huawei Honor flaunts its AI technology by captioning the cameras as an AI camera. The beautiful back design, along with different color options like Pink, Blue, Red, and Black, makes the mobile attractive.

The front side of the Honor 8X is led by 6.5’ LCD, and all the main components like sensors, notification LED, and front camera are present in the notch. Protected by Gorilla Glass 3 and having a thin size, LED has a beautiful finish.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

Though Xiaomi has marketed the design of Redmi Note 7 as revolutionary, in actuality, there is nothing special about it compared to other mobiles in this price range. To protect the phone from damage from both back and front sides, Gorilla Glass 6, along with an extra layer of protection is pre-fitted. Overall, the feel of the mobile is durable.

At the front of Redmi Note 7, there is a 6.3’ LCD having skinny bezels but thick upper bezel. The notch is also minute and not much prominent. LED notification light is situated at the middle-top of the front side, which is easily visible and thus convenient for the users.

The backside of Redmi Note 7 is made of glass where the fingerprint is present in the middle and dual camera with the LED flashlight on the left. Taking about the edges of the mobile, they do not seem much slippery as they are made of glossy material. 3.5mm Headphone jack, IR Blaster, and the microphone are present at the top of the mobile. The power button and the volume buttons are located on the right side while the SIM Card slot is present on the left. Speaker and the USB Type-C port exist on the bottom of the mobile like any other traditional mobile phone.

Overall, the design of Redmi Note 7 is good, but the users may be disappointed due to its heavyweight of 186g. Overall, the design of Redmi Note 7 is good, but the users may be disappointed due to its heavyweight of 186g.

DISPLAY

Honor 8X:

In this price range, Honor 8x provides an excellent display of 6.5’ IPS LCD display along with around 90% of screen to body ratio. Compressed notch does not distract the users from enjoying the screen display of Honor 8X. The screen is thin from the bottom of the screen, which makes the mobile attractive, and the screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass 3.

Although color saturation is not as excellent as a mobile built with AMOLED display, the color and brightness level can be changed to various degrees to suit your conditions. Different modes like Vivid, Default, Blue Light and the dark mode are present. Gaming and streaming are really enjoyable due to the large-screen and the color quality provided by Honor 8X.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

The IPS panel of the Redmi Note 7 impressed at first glance, especially in this price range. However, the LCD does have some drawbacks, like a little light bleed can be seen around the notch and the upper side of Redmi Note 7. It is not much prominent, but some users may find it to be a nuisance. Protected by the latest Gorilla Glass 5 and an FHD+ resolution, display of Redmi Note 7 is impressive overall.

In terms of the quality, the mobile a very high brightness level of about 480 nits; however, the color accuracy of Redmi Note 7 takes a lot of effort to choose the correct levels of different colors. Due to the glassy surface of the mobile, the screen’s visibility gets a hundred in high sunlight.

CAMERA

Honor 8X:

Honour 8X’s camera and picture quality are the flagship qualities of this mobile.

Dual-rear cameras, along with commanding specifications, attract the customers towards this mobile. The rear camera provides very high-quality pictures and videos. In nigh mode, shots are striking as well. 2MP sensor, along with the primary camera of 20 Mega-pixel and a flashlight, is powered by AI technology, which helps you to take the best quality pictures.

AI mode can be turned on by the top of the Camera app. AI is useful to take sharp and robust pictures in daylight while it also helps to accentuates the images taken in less light. A significant difference between a normal-shot and an AI one is that the AI pictures are slightly darker but more colorful than the original ones.

There are 22 options for users to choose when they activate the AI mode. The choices like portrait, landscape, nature, and many more help the user to take the nearly-perfect pictures — the night mode aids in taking a decent picture in low-light conditions.

Like the previous Honor phones, camera quality is good overall. High-quality videos can also be recorded via this mobile with the option of full HD, but 4K videos cannot be shot, so if you are a vlogger or someone who loves recording 4K HD videos, do not rely upon the camera of Honor 8X. Option to record videos in slow-motion is also present.

Selfie-camera of Honor 8X is of 16 Mega-Pixels, which is not really that good at taking ordinary selfies, Different filters and color schemes are present in the camera to improve the quality of the pictures taken from front-camera. The feature of the backlight portrait is cool for selfie-lovers. Overall, the photos from the selfie-camera are intense, especially if taken in daylight, while in low-light, the picture quality is mediocre.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

The rear camera of Redmi Note 7 is driven by 48MP to capture the best shots in both daylight and nighttime. The camera setup of Redmi Note 7 makes use of the Quad Bayer arrangement, which helps in taking sharper and vivid pictures.

There is another camera at the back of Redmi Note 7 – 5MP camera – that is used to sense the depth of objects in pictures. It is mainly used in different modes, like portrait mode, to focus on a particular object.

13 Mega-Pixels selfie-camera supports modes like HDR, portraits, and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Lack of option to auto-focus in selfie camera is disappointing as many of the competitors of Redmi Note 7 offers this option.

Pictures taken in daylight by Redmi Note 7 are extremely good, with minute details being clearly visible along with punchy colors and decent contrast.

However, pictures taken on the auto mode are usually darker compared to the ones taken by manually selecting a mode. Therefore, users may have to select an appropriate filter for the image they are going to capture each time, which is very time-consuming.

HDR mode solves the most the issue as HDS works best in almost every situation.

Nighttime shooting and pictures through Redmi Note 7 are impressive as there is not much noise, and details are quite visible. If night mode is turned on, photos are highlighted to improve its quality. As a result, the image looks well-adjusted and thorough.

SPEAKERS

Honor 8X:

A single speaker at the bottom of Honor 8X outputs a loud sound with the help of an external amplifier, which makes a huge difference in its loudness. But the sound quality is decent and cannot be counted among the best because the sound seems a little light and poor. Volume through the headphones is also average, with some disturbances in the frequency. However, for ordinary situations, music quality is fine.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

Even with just a single speaker located at the bottom of Redmi Note 7, the sound is loud as well as maintains its quality at high volumes. The external amplifier, as well as high sound quality, makes this mobile an important device for usage in cars or homes to enjoy music.

Headphone playback is also awesome as the loudness and clarity of the sound are preserved. Overall, Redmi Note 7 is highly impressive in terms of speakers and audio quality.

PERFORMANCE

Honor 8X:

There is no reason to complain about Honor 8X in day-to-day usage. The performance of the smartphone is smooth, thanks to its Hisilicon processor, which is a major competitor of Snapdragon processors. With the power of 4GB or 6GB RAM, depending on the variant of the mobile you have, Honor 8X can easily handle heavy applications and gaming without any major lags.

In-built storage of 64GB or 128GB is provided to the users along with the option of expanding it up to 256GB using MicroSD Card. Impressively, there is a separate slot for the SD card in the tray of the duel SIM card.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

Snapdragon 660 works impeccably on the Redmi Note 7, which runs on the MIUI 10. There are no lags or distortions in the performance of the mobile phone, even with heavy games like PUBG, Mortal Kombat, and others.

There is only one variant user in Redmi Note 7 having a RAM of 4GB and internal storage of 64GB, which can be expanded to 256GB via SD card which takes the slot of SIM 2. 4GB RAM along with the powerful processor of Redmi Note 7 is enough to provide maximum smooth performance.

SOFTWARE

Honor 8X:

Honor 8X operates on Android Oreo with EMUI 8.2.

EMUI provides a myriad of customization options so that users can change mobile settings, icons, colors, and themes according to their own tastes. This version has made improvements in Gallery and unlocking option via Face using the algorithms of machine learning. New options are added to the in-built applications as well.

Honor’s EMUI can handle the tasks very well, as it is very ordered and easy to use. By using GPS Turbo pre-installed in the EMUI, you can enhance the performance of the applications and games even more.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

MIUI 10 – the OS on which Redmi Note 7 is based – is extremely simple, clean, and user-friendly. Like the previous MIUI OS, the app drawer is absent in this version as well. Shade for the notification, and the task switching option has been transformed.

Right swipe shows you the most used app along with quick notes, news, weather, and other widgets. On pressing the volume button, three options are present to control the media volume, alarm volume, and the ringtone volume. You can turn on the silent mode from here as well.

Security app has been pre-installed, which gives the option of battery management, clearing app cache, and the management of the applications.

BATTERY

Honor 8X:

With a battery size of 3750maAH, Honor 8X excels in providing a run of 8 to 10 hours of usage, which includes playing games, streaming videos, listening to music, and using social media apps by using the Wi-Fi or the mobile data during all these activities. The size of the battery, though, makes it a little heavy.

Honor 8X comes with a 10W charger. It has various battery options like the Ultra Mode and Power-Saving Mode, which helps to prolong a single battery charge by decreasing the brightness and minimizing background apps.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7:

The battery of Redmi Note 7 is one of the core specifications of the mobile because its size if 4,000 mAh, which is bound to provide long battery usage. Such a huge battery makes sure that the users are able to use their mobile the whole day without any or very little recharge. Heavy gaming, streaming your favorite movies and shows can be enjoyed greatly throughout the day without much worrying about the battery of Redmi Note 7.

WHICH SMARTPHONE YOU SHOULD BUY?

Considering the overall features and performance of Honor 8X, it is a very good smartphone in its price range. The fact that it provides a separate slot for microSD Card along with separate slots for dual-sim, Honor 8X stands out from the crowd. Large display, gorgeous design, a processor that can manage heavy gaming, a battery that can run through 8 to 10 hours continuously, and amazing features make it one of the best mobiles under this price range.

In terms of performance, software, speakers, battery, and audio quality, Redmi Note 7 is the clear winner. It may not take many good shots like the Honor 8X, but it is impressive in terms of processing capabilities and the huge battery power. The quality of the build is great as well, which makes the mobile look stylish. Overall, Redmi Note 7 beats its competitors in terms of performance and thus has become one of the popular choices in this price range.
