When it comes to design the iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 are almost equal in size and weight, but the iPhone is a little heavier with a weight of 164 gams, in comparison to the pixel which weighs 151 grams.

With iPhone 12, Apple has gone back to its classic retro-squared design and people have nothing but good things to say about this decision of Apple. iPhone 12 comes in 5 amazing colors: Black, blue, white, red, and light green.

iPhone 12 like most of the apple products has a glass back and is more exposed to cracks. But this glass back feature makes iPhone 12, an elegant and premium smartphone.

While with Pixel 5, the design is on the minimalist side and has curved edges. It is available in two pretty basic colors: Classic black and green.

When it comes to the back, Pixel 5’s is made of Aluminum, which makes it more durable and resistant to cracks than the iPhone. This aluminum metal body has also made the Pixel 5 the first 5G phone that has a metal body.

iPhone 12 is 6.1 inches while pixel 5 is 6.0 inches, which makes them almost equal in size.

The display of the iPhone 12 is made of new material Ceramic shield, which gives better protection against drop. It has a Super Retina XDR OLED display with a resolution of 1170 X 2532 resolution @460 pixels per inch. iPhone 12 like previous phones of Apple has a refresh rate of 60Hz.

Pixel 5, on the other hand, has Gorilla Glass 6 and an OLED display with a resolution of 1080 X 2340 pixels @ 432 pixels per inch and a screen refresh rate of 90Hz. It means that the screen will refresh 90 times per second which seems to make the usage of pixel 5 smoother, faster, and more responsive in comparison to the iPhone.

But, in reality, refresh rate doesn’t make much that of a difference, and overall display wise iPhone 12 and pixel 5 are equally good.

The cameras on both phones are pretty great. Both phones support dual back cameras and a front camera. Both phone’s cameras have slightly different yet equally brilliant features. You will happy with the quality of the camera regardless of the phone you have chosen.

The iPhone 12 has one 12 MP wide sensor camera and another 12 MP ultra-wide camera. Its front camera is also a 12 MP front camera which is present on the top of the display. The wide-angle of the iPhone gives a 120 degrees field of view.

The camera of the iPhone 12 met the demands of pro photographers by solving the low-light problem with hardware upgrades. It has introduced a new lens with an aperture of f 1.6 and a larger lens, which has shown significant improvement in low-light situations. iPhone 12 also added the night mode to its fronts and secondary camera.

While the Pixel 5 has one 12.2 MP main camera with another 16 MP camera with an ultra-wide lens. The front camera is 8 MP. The ultra-wide-angle of Pixel 5 gives 107 degrees (which is less than iPhone 12 but still is pretty cool when it comes to capturing wide-angle pictures).

The other amazing features of the Pixel 5 are its Night sight, portrait mode, and bokeh effect in low lighting. A new edition in the feature is its editing mode for light and portrait photos.

SPEAKERS

FeaturesaptX, aptX-HDDolby Atmos

iPhone 12 has much better audio and speakers than Pixel 5. With a really fine combination of ear/bottom speaker and bass of sub-100Hz, you can clearly hear whatever you are listening to or watching. The additional Dolby Atmos Enhancements are simply the treat for the user of iPhone 12.

While Google’s Pixel 5 is not so good when it comes to the features of sound and audio. Google has stepped back with the proper speaker pairs, which were used in previous Pixel models, and replaced them with smaller bezels and one under-screen piezo speaker. This is a major setback and doesn’t give a good experience to its user while listening and watching sound and videos.

HARDWARE & PERFORMANCE

The major and the most important difference between iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 is the Hardware and processors that are used in them.

The iPhone 12 has Apple’s Bionic 14 processor while the Pixel 5 has used a Snapdragon 765 G chipset from Qualcomm as a processor. The processor of the Pixel 5 is slower than the Pixel 4’s Snapdragon 855 which seems to be a kind of controversial decision taken by Google. But the team of google explained their decision by saying that they went with this chipset to minimize the cost and to help with the battery life.

Google’s Pixel 5 has only one storage variation of 128 GBs. While with iPhone 12 you have 3 options of 64, 128, and 256 GBs at different price ranges and you can choose according to your budget.

Although the RAM of the Pixel 5 is 8GB which is double in comparison to the iPhone 12’s RAM (4GB), and the iPhone 12 is not equipped with an 8-core processor like Google’s Pixel 5, iPhone 5 is still the super-fast, and smoother devices when it comes to operating heavy apps and files.

So, here clearly iPhone is the winner with its powerful processor and varying storage options.

BATTERY LIFE

iPhone 12 and Pixel 5 with the battery of 2800mAh and 4000mAh respectively have almost the same battery life (Pixel 5’s battery life is a bit longer).

When it comes to charging both phones support wireless charging. For the records, Pixel 5 charges faster.

So both phones are the same and none is as such a winner.

PRICE COMPARISON

This is where the major difference came: Price.

An iPhone 12 costs you $ 849 for a 128 GB phone, while a Pixel 5, also128 GB, costs $699. A difference of $ 150!

Other variants of iPhone i.e., 64 GB and 256 GB costs $799 and $949 respectively. You can buy an iPhone with storage of 64 GB if you are on a tight budget. But, 64 GBs, in this age of technology, may not be enough for you. So Pixel 5 is a better option to buy when you are on a budget.

But there are some features of the iPhone 12 that Google’s Pixel 5 can never match and you can buy Apple’s premium quality iPhone by paying extra 100 bucks!

FINAL VERDICT

In final-verdict, both phones have really brilliant features. iPhone 12 is an amazing phone with some unmatchable features but it is a bit pricey!

Pixel 5 is almost as good as iPhone 12 with an affordable price, but Google can do some efforts on making the speakers of the phone better!
