Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has a unibody metal design with plastic bars on the top and the bottom on the back. We also get to see a camera on the top left corner on the back as well. This device has got no physical buttons. The build quality of the device is nice and feels quite strong as well.
On the front, we can see two thick bezels one on the top and the other on the bottom. The side bezels are thin and also there is a front camera as well. This device is little but it can easily behold in one hand but not for too long.
Overall, the design of the device is good, simple and also I like the design as well. The build quality is also quite nice as well and it feels quite premium considering it an entry-level device.
Apple iPad Mini 4
The Apple iPad mini 4 is a five-year-old device. The design of the device is very basic and it feels minimalistic. However, the build quality of the device is good and feels durable while holding. The top and bottom bezels are thick which is fine considering its a five-year-old device.
It’s a lightweight device and it can easily behold in one hand. It also has the touch ID and it also works as the home button as well. You also get two speakers on the bottom of the device.
Overall, the design is basic but nice, and also the build quality is good as well.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0
The display is decent but nothing like Apple iPad Mini 4’s display. This is an 8-inch HD display with a resolution of 1200 x 800p. The viewing angles are also pretty good but we don’t know if it’s an IPS panel or not as Samsung doesn’t mention that.
The brightness is nice but it can’t be used under direct sunlight. The display size is perfect as it’s not too big nor too small. The colors and contrast is nice and also watching videos are fun.
However, this device doesn’t have a Widevine Level 1 certification which means that we can’t watch movies or web series on Netflix or Amazon Prime. We can only watch it in standard definition only. But the certification doesn’t apply on YouTube so we can still enjoy watching videos in HD on YouTube.
Apple iPad Mini 4
Being a five-old-device the display is really good. The video quality is really nice and crisp. This is a Full HD 7.9-inch display with a PPI of 326. The viewing angles are really good and it is the perfect size for me to watch movies or videos.
The brightness is good enough for indoors and outdoor use but I would not recommend using it in direct sunlight as the display gets a little dark. Also, this is a retina display with antiglare coating. It basically means that your eye won’t hurt even if you work for long hours.
However, the bezels are a little bit too thick, and I would love to see a little thinner bezels. But it is a five-year-old device, so considering that it’s fine.
Overall, the display is really good and I did enjoy watching movies and videos on it and I think you will also love watching movies or videos on this device.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 performs well for day-to-day use and apps like chrome, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. works pretty fine. You also get an option for split-screen as well. This means that if you can also do multitasking like opening YouTube on half the screen and Chrome on the other half of the screen.
Now, if you love playing high-end games like PUBG then you might not want to get this device as you can’t play games in high graphic settings which is a little for gamers but it is fine considering that it’s an entry-level device. However, simple games like Subway Surfer, Temple Run, and similar games work pretty well.
Overall, this device is most suitable for everyday use but not for gaming at high graphic settings.
Apple iPad Mini 4
The performance of the iPad mini 4 for day to day usage is nice. You will have no issues watching videos, browsing through the web, and even scrolling through social media. You can even do simple multitasking like watching videos and browsing on chrome.
The gaming performance on this device is good enough for simple games like Temple Run, Subway Surfer, etc. However, high-end games like PUBG or Call of Duty are playable but at low graphic settings. If you want you can also play at high graphic settings but you might notice some stutters or lags.
Overall, the performance of the device is fine for a daily user and good enough for lightweight gaming as well. However, if you want to do high-end gaming then this device is not for you.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0
The Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has got decent cameras considering that this is an entry-level device. These cameras will be way more useful for scanning documents and doing video calls. These cameras take decent quality photos and videos in bright lighting conditions but not in low lighting conditions.
The battery life is nice according to my video playback test at medium brightness and it lasted for almost 13 hours which is really good. However, it depends on the usage of the device. So if you are an average user it might last for the whole day or two. But if you are a very rough user then it might only last for 5 to 6 hours depending on the usage of the device.
Apple iPad Mini 4
Now, the back and the front cameras are pretty decent. The result is good in bright lighting but not in low lighting conditions. These cameras can shoot videos in 1080p which is decent. However, I would recommend using these cameras for video calling, document scanning, and things like that. Overall, the camera quality is decent but I would recommend using mobile phone cameras for taking photos.
The battery life of the device is good and it could last for two or three days with average usage. In my test, it lasts for almost 10 hours at medium brightness in video playback test. And, it took a little over three hours to charge the device fully. Overall, the battery backup is great and it could last for few days with proper usage.
Which Should You Buy?
If I need to buy from Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 Vs Apple iPad Mini 4 then I would definitely go for Apple iPad Mini 4. The Apple iPad Mini 4 is the best choice in comparison with Galaxy Tab A 8.0 because the performance is good, the display is good, battery life is nice and also the overall build quality is nice as well. If your budget doesn’t allow you, then you should go for Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0. However, both of these devices are mostly for daily use only.
