Is the Oppo Reno 8 Pro Worth Buying? [5 Reasons]

Estimated read time 4 min read

Reno 8 Pro is not the first Oppo phone I am using. I have used Reno 7 Pro, 6 Pro, and 5 Pro. But this is the first phone which I can consider a flagship smartphone.

I always thought that Oppo Phones fall in Mid-Range Segment. But there is something special about Oppo Reno 8 Pro.

So, today I am sharing 5 Reasons to Buy OPPO Reno 8 Pro.

1. Flagship Camera

As Oppo smartphones are famous for its Front Cameras and here you get 32MP Sony IMX709 Flagship Front Camera which was also used in Reno 7 Pro. I liked the Reno 7 Pro Selfie Camera because it had a dedicated Smart Wide-Angle Feature that worked flawlessly.

There is no upgrade in the Primary Camera as well. It’s the same flagship Sony IMX766 Camera Sensor. This sensor handles light very effectively. Even if the shots are clicked in dark or bright environment, the color reproduction is on point.

On spec sheet, there is no difference between Reno 7 Pro and Reno 8 Pro camera. But Oppo has added dedicated imaging processor based on six-nanometer technology in Reno 8 Pro. This boosts the clicked photos to the next level which is called MariSilicon X NPU.

And with the help of MariSilicon X NPU, you can shoot 4K AI Night Video on Reno 8 Pro which is the first time in any Android phone, and 960FPS AI Slow Motion Feature.

2. Attractive Design

Straight out of the box, Reno 8 Pro has an appealing design. This phone has a great In-Hand Feel and does not feel heavy or broad for single-handed use. Even though it has a glass back you won’t see any fingerprint smudges on it.

One more unique thing in the Design segment is that it has a single glass piece on the backside which merges with the Camera Module. Overall, this phone feels Premium because the metal aluminum frame and flat edges.

3. Beast Performance

MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max Performance

This is the only reason, why people will love this smartphone. Oppo used to compromise Performance in the Reno Series but not anymore. You get flagship level MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max on Reno 8 Pro. It is the latest processor with the best-level performance and based on five-nanometers Technology.

Reno 8 Pro is only available in 12GB RAM / 256GB Storage. This phone comes with an additional 7GB of Virtual RAM which is common in most phones.

MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max is very Thermal Efficient as compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 888 Processors. And I think that’s also because Reno 8 Pro has an Ultra Conductive Cooling System which is a five-layer protection.

4. Durable Battery

Oppo Reno 8 Pro Battery

Oppo has also worked to make their phones, more battery efficient. Here you get an 80W SuperVOOC charger which can charge your phone from 0-50% in just 12 mins. And best part is that you get the charger in the box.

Oppo is promising minimum 1600 Charging Cycles on Reno 8 Pro which will take 4 years to complete on average use. All this is possible because of Oppo Smart Battery Health Engine that efficiently controls voltage and current during charging.

You get a 5-layer Charging Protection System which is Powered by TUV Rhineland Certified. So, no need to worry, this phone won’t blast while charging.

5. Best Display from Oppo

Oppo offered their best Display in Reno 8 Pro. Here you get 6.7″ FHD AMOLED Display which is completely borderless. You can hardly see any bezels on the display. Even in terms of colors, sharpness, and brightness this is one of the finest Display you can get at this price.

The Display is HDR10+ Certified. So, you can Stream HDR content on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

You also get an In-Display Optical Fingerprint Scanner which is very fast and accurate.

Finally, there’s an upgrade in the Refresh Rate, from 90Hz in Reno 7 Pro to 120HZ in Reno 8 Pro. Animations and transitions feel smooth but this is not an LTPO panel which is quite popular nowadays.
