Logitech G305 Lightspeed Wireless Review

Estimated read time 6 min read

Many people prefer wired gaming mice, but many also prefer wireless gaming mice here, and I am one of them. I really like wireless items. However, when it comes to the price of wireless gaming mice, the good ones here start from $100 and go up to $500. I don’t think an average or casual gamer can afford such an expensive gaming mouse.

But do you know that Logitech offers a very affordable gaming mouse, which is G305 Lightspeed Wireless. You can get it on Amazon for around $50, it has a 12,000 DPI sensor, its battery life is 250 hours, and its weight is also less than 100 grams. So, today in this post, I am going to review this mouse and will tell you that you should buy it or not.

Design & Build

The most crucial aspect of any mouse is its shape or comfortability. The shape of the G305 Lightspeed is very ergonomic and pleasant shape. I really like the shape of the G102. The G305 has the same shape, with a completely rounded design, and it’s very comfortable to hold. Speaking of exact dimensions, its height is 116.6 millimeters, width is 62.15 millimeters, and depth is 38.2 millimeters.

But how does it feel to hold in real life? Well, if you have medium-sized hands, this mouse will be perfect for you. This mouse is slightly shorter in height compared to Viper Ultimate. When I hold this mouse, my fingertips cross over the left and right clicks. So, according to my hand size, this mouse is a bit small, whereas my Viper Ultimate fits perfectly.

However, the G305 is very comfortable for long gaming sessions. If it fits your hand size, it would be a great choice. On the left side, there are two extra buttons that you can easily reach while gaming. Their positioning is very good. Although there’s no rubber grip on the side, the quality of the plastic they’ve used provides some grip.

Talking about build quality, it’s made entirely of matte plastic, which I always appreciate. There are no gaps anywhere; it has a seamless design, so the chances of dust getting in are minimal. And it doesn’t feel cheap at all. It feels pretty solid in hand.

Buttons

This mouse has a total of six buttons, and all can be reprogrammed, including the scroll wheel, through the Logitech G hub. The clicking is very tactile and excellent. I also really liked the wheel. The audible feedback from the wheel is great in this mouse, meaning the resistance of this wheel is very good. It will help a lot in changing guns or scrolling.

The wheel has a nice rubber coating for a better grip, which really helps while using it. I have been using it for quite a long time, it’s been with me for about a month now, and so far, I haven’t faced any double click issues.

Battery Life

To power up this mouse, it requires a AA size battery, which you can insert by opening its cover. Also, you can store its USB receiver inside so that you don’t lose it while traveling.

Without the AA battery, this mouse weighs around 73 grams, which is lighter than the Viper Ultimate. However, with the AA battery, its weight is around 96 grams, which is a bit heavy for e-sports gaming.

The company claims the battery backup for this mouse is around 250 hours, which means it has a continuous battery backup of 10 days, so a single battery can easily last a month.

The weight distribution of the G305 isn’t perfect for gaming. During gaming, the back of this mouse feels a bit heavy when lifting. But after playing for 2 to 3 days, this issue didn’t bother me much because I got used to it. You might get used to it as well.

The Logitech G305 comes with 12,000 DPI sensor. It’s not like some high-end tech accuracy, but I faced no issues while playing Valorant with it. Speaking of the response time, it’s 1 millisecond, of course. To be honest, I didn’t experience any latency issues while gaming. It felt like I was playing with a regular wired mouse; it was so smooth.

Software: Logitech G HUB

To fully utilize this mouse, you need to download the Logitech G-HUB software, from where you can customize every aspect of it or set it. With the help of this software, you can set macros in this mouse, reassign keys, and adjust its sensitivity.

By the way, in this mouse, you can set up to 5 sensitivity levels. However, the sensitivity level increases in increments of 50, not 1,2,3,4. For instance, if you want to set it to 401, it won’t be possible; you’ll have to go with 400, 450, 500, etc., increasing by 50 each time, not one by one, which isn’t a major issue.

The sensitivity indicator will show colors like yellow for 400 DPI, white for 800 DPI, then orange, then purple, so you can understand which DPI setting you’re on, even when using the mouse without the software, which is highly appreciated.

With the software, you can also select the power mode, ranging from low power mode to high power mode. Additionally, you can set its polling rate, ranging from 120Hz all the way up to 1000Hz.

All these settings are saved in the mouse’s onboard memory. So, if you ever feel like deleting the software, you can do so, and all the settings you made in the software will remain saved in the mouse.

Mouse Feets

The skates on this are quite robust and don’t give the impression that they will wear out or rip off in just a few days. It uses PTFE and it glides quite well on the mouse pad. I tried it with my Razer Firefly V2 Mouse Pad because I didn’t have any other close option. I compared its performance with my Viper Ultimate, and both have the same gliding performance. However, to be very honest, I preferred the skates of Logitech G305.

In-Game Performance

I mostly play Valorant, it’s a pretty fast-paced game, and during movements, 180-degree flicks, or any rapid movements, the G305 never disappointed me. It never lagged or hung in the middle of the game. I had a very fluent experience. The connectivity was super solid, and it tracks movements very accurately.

Logitech G305 Vs G304

I have observed that some people on the internet are searching for the differences between Logitech G305 and G304. I would like to inform you that there is no difference between Logitech G305 and G304. They are the same mouse in every aspect, including specifications and design. The only distinction is that in some countries, this mouse is sold under the name G305, and in others, it is sold as G304.

Summary

If your budget is around $50 and you want to buy a reliable wireless gaming mouse, then I think the G305 Lightspeed Wireless would be a perfect choice. It boasts great build quality and sensor accuracy.

However, in my view, there are some cons also. For instance, it doesn’t have a Bluetooth chip, so you can’t directly connect it with your mobile. Although you can connect it to your mobile using a USB dongle.

Another thing I’d like to clarify is that you can’t use this mouse in wired mode because it doesn’t have a USB port. So, you’ll have to be very careful with the USB receiver because if you lose it, the mouse will become totally useless.

Pros

  • Value for Money
  • Software Supported
  • Best for Gaming & Professional Work
  • Good Battery Life

Cons

  • No Wired Connection
  • No RGB
  • Slightly Heavy for E-Sports Gaming
