DESIGN

Dell Inspiron 15 7591

Now, the Dell Inspiron 7000 series (7591) is actually made of magnesium alloy and not just aluminium, so this laptop is not that heavy. I think it actually weighs around 1.84 kgs depending on the variant you get. It’s actually not that thick as well and I like the fact that you can just open it up with one hand.

These plastic white bezels could have easily been black and you might say the look is very cheap in my opinion. Coming to the build quality, now you will not get the durability you get in the Dell XPS lineup with that carbon fiber body but I would say for this price, I was pretty happy with the durability.

I really liked the keyboard and I think it’s my favorite part of this laptop. Now as soon as you start typing on this keyboard, you would notice how silent it is despite having a fair bit of travel. Now, you do get a dedicated Numpad as well and even with that, the keys are not cranky and it will take no time for you to get used to typing on this keyboard.

The one thing I don’t like about this keyboard is the backlight of it because the backlight is white and the keys are silver which makes the whole typing experience useless if you have this backlight on in daylight but if you are working in a slightly low lighting situation or in darker environments, I think the backlight will help.

I really like the trackpad as well. It is made out of glass. It is not as big as the Dell XPS or Macbook but it is fairly responsive and it also supports windows position and the buttons here again are silent but they are clicky as well.

Dell Inspiron 15 7590

The design of this laptop looks so sleek and modern. Also, the display looks better than the other Inspiron with a thin bezel. The black matte finish gives a premium look and the keypad is full size. The trackpad size and performance is also really good. The trackpad is more on the left side but it’s not the big deal.

The full-size keyboard is really useful for productivity work, the travel is decent and comfortable to type although I prefer a little less key travel. It has two-step back illumination, the dial can be adjusted in the BIOS settings.

DISPLAY

Dell Inspiron 15 7591

One thing that Dell actually did very well is the display. Now, this is a 15.6 inch full HD display which is led backlit and I really like this display. The color accuracy is 72% NTSC or almost 100% sRGB which is great for this price and also the brightness sits at 300 nits which is not a lot but the anti-glare coating kind of makes up for it if you plan to use this laptop outdoors.

Dell Inspiron 15 7590

The full HD IPS display offers you an excellent viewing angle with a maximum of 300 nits brightness, some of you might find it on a longer side but in my case, I find 30 percent of screen brightness more than enough indoor. The display offers 72% NTSC and it covers 91% of the sRGB color gamut. The Inspiron 7590 is having a 15.6-inch screen size but a 14-inch form factor, thanks to its thin bezels.

FEATURES & PERFORMANCE

Dell Inspiron 15 7591

This laptop has a processor of the i7-9750H processor with a 12MB cache and up to 4.5 GHz clock speed with turbo-boost technology. It also has the graphics card of NVIDIA GTX 1050 which is pretty good to work well. In terms of storage and memory, it has SSD storage up to 512GB and 8GB memory which are also configurable.

Now, the port situation on this laptop is pretty solid as well. So, we get three USB 3.1 ports, and also a USB Type-C, Thunderbolt 3 port which also supports charging by the way, and we also get a full-size HDMI port as well as a micro SD card slot, a headphone jack, and the charging port. In my opinion, Dell could have given a full-size SD card slot because content creators would have liked a full-size SD card.

There are a couple of major downsides to this laptop as well. Now, first is the webcam, this is a VGA webcam that can only shoot at 720p maximum and I would have really wished that Dell can give a better webcam. A better webcam would have appreciated and even the 7501 which is an upgraded model of this one has the same webcam. The second thing I really disliked about this laptop is the speaker output.

Now, you get two speakers and the speaker output is average. Now, the sound quality and the audio output is not that bad but they are not loud at all. So, if you are planning to use this laptop to watch a lot of movies or youtube videos, you are better off with some external speakers or your favorite pair of headphones.

Dell Inspiron 15 7590

This is powered by Intel 9th gen i7 9750H 2.6GHz CPU along with Nvidia’s 16.0 makes it suitable for content creation and light gaming. It has got 8GB of DDR4 memory, 512GB of NVMe SSD, and a 6-cell 97 WHr battery.

Both the Inspiron 15 7590 and XPS 15 look identical except for the premium look, screen accuracy, and out-of-the-box Wi-Fi 6. If we compare it to the Inspiron 7591, the Inspiron 7590 dominates with the GTX 1650, huge battery, and low weight, thanks to a magnesium alloy body. For those who are looking for a portable lightweight laptop with amazing capabilities, Inspiron 7590 seems to be a good option.

On the left-hand side, we have the barrel power connector, one HDMI 2.0 port, two USB Type-A 3.0 ports, and a thunderbolt Type-C port which can be used to charge and connect to multiple displays. We have the micro SD card slot, one USB Type-A 3.0 port, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.

For the speed of Wi-Fi, I am able to achieve 500 Mbps up and on without any issue. even though I have a 500 Mbps connection, I was able to get only 300 to 350 Mbps both upload and download speeds, I think the limiting factor here is the Wi-Fi router but this is more than enough.

BATTERY

Dell Inspiron 15 7591

Power in this laptop is actually a 3-cell 56 watt-hour battery which I think is not a lot but it is decent for the price. I easily got around six hours in a straight go if I’m working like surfing the web or watching a couple of youtube videos but as soon as you throw some heavy tasks like Premiere Pro or if you are gaming on this laptop, the battery life takes a hit and it can go as low as two to three hours. You would not game or edit videos on this laptop while you are on the go but if you have to, just remember that the battery life is kind of average.

Dell Inspiron 15 7590

During my battery test, I was able to get seven hours of casual usage on test, while the screen brightness was set to 30% and a video was streaming continuously from YouTube over Wi-Fi but don’t expect the same if you are working on any tasks such as video editing or gaming. While I was working on Premiere, I was able to get three hours when the battery reached 20%.

WHICH TO BUY?

If you are the person who are just getting into content creation or who’s just into 1080p video editing, not 4K because that takes the performance a little bit of a hit but if you are someone like that, the Inspiron 7591 is a steal deal for you. Overall, the Inspiron 7590 is a good laptop for those who want to edit their videos. This is not for you if you are primary usage for gaming.

There are some similar features and specs on these two laptops. Both are good in performance but in my opinion, the Inspiron 7590 will be better to buy either with an option of GTX 1650 or GTX 1050 because it gives little extra useful features and less weight comparatively.
