DESIGN & BUILD

Cubot P20:

The cubot P20 is made of plastic, so it is fairly light. It is a 6 inch which is actually fairly big and of course on the back you have dual camera setup. Then you have you’ll fingerprint sensor that is indented and then you have a cubot logo at the bottom. It also feels pretty decent in the hand and the curves on the edges are okay.

I gotta say that the bezels here are good but they’re not the smallest I’ve ever seen, so you have your notch which is a fairly small notch and I like it. At the bottom you have a fairly big bezel.

Overall, the phone doesn’t feel super good quality, it feels good enough but that’s about the best this thing can do, so it’s definitely not premium but it will pass.

Cubot P30:

On the back there are 3 cameras with a flashlight. Rear pannel is made of plastic. It does look like glass but it is plastic. It also have fingerprint sensor. The frame is also made of plastic. So, there is no metal used in this device.

On the right side, there is power button and volume buttons. Nothing on the top. On the left side, it has sim card tray. At bottom, it has USB-C port for charging the device, a speaker grill, and a microphone.

DISPLAY

Cubot P20:

You have a pretty decent display. It’s a 1080p IPS display with a resolution of about 2160×1080 but it’s not exactly that because you do have a notch on both sides. I mean if you’re talking about the actual quality of the display itself. The colors, saturation, and crispness are very good.

Cubot P30:

Size of the display is 6.3 inch IPS. The viewing are very good, so no matter how look the you will able to look at screen. The only downside is that it dosen’t get too bright, so if you use this in direct sunlight, it will be very difficult to see the screen. Playing games or watching videos on 1080P display is amazing.

AUDIO

Cubot P20:

The audio quality is actually decent, it’s not super-duper good but it’s actually not bad. Of course, you’re lacking bass but it is fairly crisp and fairly clear. There are decent mids and highs, so that’s actually good enough at this price pont.

Cubot P30:

There is no big difference between the audio quality, when compared to cubot P20. There is no 3.5mm jack. If you are thinking to watch movie, then i will recommend you to use bluetooth headphones. Overall, this speaker is not best in the market.

SOFTWARE & PERFORMANCE

Cubot P20:

It comes with android 8.0 with a very nice stock launcher. And I have to say that this launcher is a bit laggy. Lag is noticeable but it goes away after a while. It’s not Super smooth and that is the fault of the MT6750T because that is an older processor but it still performs admirably well. It’s completely stock Android, so you do not have to worry. The software have lot of optimizations to customize you phone.

In terms of games, I tried PUBG on this and it definitely did not work very well. It’s not powerful enough for you to play an intense game like that. It wasn’t it wasn’t smooth at all which is fairly surprising. But still you are able to play light games.

Cubot P30:

The phone comes with android 9 and i don’t know that it will be upgraded to android 10. The phone dosen’t really comes with useless apps, so you only get google apps. And the launcher looks like google pixel launcher. I don’t love this launcher but it is very light without any heavy theme.

While playing Call of Duty Mobile, there were some minor lags. It has MT6763 Helio P23 CPU combined with ARM Mali- G71 MP2 GPU. This CPU is mid-ranger and you can’t expect good performance. But it is good in performance when compared Cobat P20.

CAMERA

Cubot P20:

At the back there are 2 cameras (20MP+2MP) and at front it has single 13MP camera.

I gotta say that Cubot did a pretty good job with the camera. I will tell you about the quality of the back facing camera first. The detail of the images are very good. It also supports HDR and it works sometimes, not all the times. And I have to say that HDR mode works in some conditions. The front facing camera is pretty average. And when it comes to video, it only supports 1080p with 30fps.

Cubot P30:

There are 3 cameras on the back –

  • Main Camea: SONY IMX486 12.0MP
  • Depth Camera: SONY IMX350 20.0MP
  • Ultra wide angle Camera: 125° 8.0MP

Now the main does take good images in daylight. It is average at this price point.

When coming to depth camera which takes portrait photo. I clicked some of my own photos and they were amazing. Yes, the edge detection is not that good but at this price you get amazing portraits.

I am really suprised that they have added ultra-wide lens, I didn’t expect that. The quality of images are not that good, but still you have a option to click a ultra-wide shot which is really amazing.

When it comes to front camera, this device is equiped with 13MP wich is also pretty good.

SECURITY

Cubot P20:

The fingerprint sensor wasn’t too fast but it’s respectable enough. I think it’s barely fast enough for me to use it in real life. It is still a little bit slow. Overall, it is not fast to it’s competition.

Cubot P30:

The fingerprint reader is much faster than cubot p20. But your finger should be placed at right position but you will get used to it. Overall, it does seem to work good at this price point.

The phone also supports face unlock but it will not secure your phone because it is using only front camera.

BATTERY

Cubot P20:

It’s to be expected that the battery life is not going to be very good because of the MT6750T.

If you use the phone and the screen is on and the power consumption goes way up because the MT6750T actually isn’t very good which is very sad.

If you’re looking a standby battery life, you’re looking at around half a percent per hour which is actually very good for the MT6750T and I was able to get around five hours of screen on time with the 4000mAh battery which really isn’t great.

Cubot P30:

It comes with a Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. The battery is non-removable. It will give you 6 hours of screen on time which is pretty average. And playing games, you will get only 1.5 hours. Standby battery life is pretty good which is the only good point.

WHICH TO BUY?

I will recommend you to buy Cubot P30. It is much better phone because of camera, performance, and display. I know it is bit expensive but it will worth your money.
