TeraBox Cloud Storage Review

Estimated read time 5 min read

We are going to address and explain the TeraBox hype. In terms of appearance, TeraBox is similar to the other cloud storage services. However, in the TeraBox interface, you will come across advertisements. The left navigation is quite fair. One exception is that you cannot change the username at the top. As an alternative, we have installed a recycling container. A 7-day premium trial package is included as part of the package.

TeraBox Cloud Storage

Our Verdict

I advise using the service for unimportant files after using it. It offers 1 TB, however I’m a little wary about its past. Data was previously held on Chinese and Hong Kong servers by Dubox.

Sharing Issues

TeraBox allows you to share files with other users. File sharing is an important function of cloud storage services. We were met with an error message when we attempted to send a few files by email as attachments. No matter how many times we tried to share, we received the same message.

TeraBox Sharing Issues

You can also add attachments and links. However, we could not do so due to the same problem that plagued the email. As a result, there is currently no method to share files with other users. It is up to you whether you want to utilize a link expiration of 7 or 30 days or leave it permanently. Password protection is also available for sharing, although the password screen lacked a password field.

Platforms

TeraBox provides a desktop application interface that resembles the online version in many respects. For example, Ads are not visible on the UI. However, they occasionally appear in the notification tray.

“Folder backup” is one of the supplementary features available in the desktop app. Using the app’s floating icon, users may access the software quicker. You can even upload files by dragging and dropping them onto the icon. Although, note that the navigation pane does not have a folder.

Android

TeraBox Android App

Averaging 4.7 stars, the Android app has over 100 million downloads. The app’s main page displays the most recent photographs and videos posted and watched.

In addition, there is a “night mode” in the app that simply dims the screen. The interface and text color are left untouched. In addition, the app opens with a five-second TeraBox premium commercial that cannot be skipped. Finally, the software has an offline mode that displays all downloaded files.

Aside from the email and phone number systems, the app provides a Google login option. The app does not ask for your name or other personal information if you sign up by email or phone. As previously said, you’ll be assigned a username at random.

Please remember to sign in using your email address if you used it to sign up. It will generate a new account if you use Google to log in to the app. Setting up location-based security is a way to safeguard your account.

Minimal file support

In TeraBox, you may open files. Yes, you did read that correctly. It does not have a wide range of file formats that it can open. Uploading any file is possible. However, opening files is not. There are a few picture and video formats that can be opened. Still, no support exists for any document files (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Docs).

Safe Folder

TeraBox, like OneDrive, provides a password-protected folder that may be used to store data. A 4-digit PIN is required to unlock the folder, and if you forget the PIN, there is no way to access the folder. A new secure folder can be requested, but the previous one must be deleted.

False Advertising

Terabox False Advertising

So, according to their website, users can save up to 300,000 photographs. Their free plan only allows you to upload 500 files, but they also send an email. So, if you simply wish to upload photographs, you can only store 500 images.

Can they access your data?

TeraBox Privacy Policy

In accordance with the privacy policies of TeraBox, they keep data and material in China and Hong Kong. This is a gray area for this examination. According to their privacy policy, they may share customer data with customer service and the IT department to assist their clients. The policy also states that they may share data with authorities in certain situations.

Should You Really Use it?

It was also difficult to obtain information about the company or customer service on its site or other web pages. Most of the items on their Thai-language blog are published there.

If you are a heavy user of online storage, we recommend switching to a different provider. Some fundamental file types are not supported by TeraBox, and the software has been known to have problems while exchanging files. In that case, you can look for some of the other available online storage services. Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, and the like are among the most popular services.

Final Thoughts

After exploring the website and conducting thorough research of others’ experiences, we would advise using the service for files that are not really crucial. Its storage capacity is 1 TB, but we are skeptical about its history. It was once known as Dubox, and back then, it kept its data on servers in China and Hong Kong.
