HP Spectre x360 13

DESIGN

In terms of the actual form factor, the Surface Pro 7 takes the cake in its category nothing else like it, you’ve got a 1.7-pound tablet with a micro SD card slot on the back. We finally have a Type-C port which was long overdue for a Type-A port, you can charge using the Type-C but you will need a 65-watt charger.

They both have really nice chiclet-style keyboards with solid key travel. So, I appreciate both keyboards and they’re both very good. I actually like the trackpad on the type cover more than the touchpad on the HP. They both are using Microsoft precision, HP did not use too.

The big difference though in my opinion is that it’s all about build quality which unfortunately when it comes to the HP, whenever I do a touch left-click on this meaning not actually pressing down, unfortunately, this whole touchpad moves whereas Microsoft reacts as it should.

DISPLAY

We also get a 4K 13.3 inch OLED on the Spectre 13 whereas the display on the good Surface Pro is the good old display 2736 by 1824, it does have a 3 by 2 aspect ratio whereas we’re dealing with a 16 by 9 really more of a content consumption display on the HP.

The Surface Pro 7 is not a 4K display, there’s no HDR, it’s still very good but you’re getting the black bars because this is a 3 by 2 aspect ratio. The OLED on the Spectre 13 just takes a giant dump on the Surface Pro 7 display, I have no other way of putting it and that’s because the OLED is just that much better and not just because it’s 4k but because it’s an OLED.

The colors on the OLED are far more vibrant, color accuracy is far more vibrant, it’s a brighter display as well. The Spectre 13 has a warmer and bright color display while the Surface Pro 7 has cooler color. The nits of brightness are also high in the Spectre 13 comparing to the Surface Pro 7.

BATTERY

Both of these charge up in roughly 2 hours. In terms of battery life, Microsoft rates this at 10 hours, and HP rates this at 9 hours with the 4K OLED that this model sports.

Real-world use my experience, you’re going to get better battery life than the HP with the Surface Pro 7 at mixed-use about eight to nine hours with the Surface Pro against the seven to eight hours with Spectre 13.

WHICH TO BUY?

If you want a lightweight laptop with longer battery life with some compromises like extra ports and a little bit better performance, then you should choose Surface Pro 7.

If you want a traditional 2-in-1 laptop with an OLED screen and less price range than the Surface Pro 7, then the Spectre 13 will be better to buy. At the end of the day, it’s all gonna be about what form factor you’re looking to get because otherwise, you would never even select the Surface Pro 7 in my opinion.
